Andy's been thinking about internet dating for Lance, who's still not over his ex-wife. A mysterious stranger arrives to tempt the Danbury Metal Detecting Club in more ways than one.

Andy spies on Sophie as she helps with Peter's research. Lance secretly meets his Internet date. Lance and Andy warn rivals Simon and Garfunkel not to search for plane wreckage.

Charged with finding the mayor's lost chain, detectorists Russell and Hugh are disturbed to find themselves in a dogging area but since the mayor owns the field they are told to keep searching.

Andy is perturbed when his interview for a job in Africa doesn't seem to go well. Lance, meanwhile, is upset when Kate finds his attempts to connect with her overpowering.

Andy passes his interview but keeps it a secret from Becky, which annoys her and she considers leaving him. Lance, Andy, Becky and Sophie are trying to come to terms with an uncertain future.

Peter is arrested following the news that he has a life-time ban on metal detecting for disturbing war graves in Germany. Lance makes a valuable find.

Andy takes a break from voluntary work overseas to witness Lance's latest, possibly valuable, find. Lance gets an offer from a local museum.
