Melody

Melody is introduced to her world of music, and we understand her circumstances and her gift. We see the obstacles the community faces in trying to fight back.

Melody veers between the impossible hope that she could win the scholarship. Still, she registers for the audition. Things escalate between Jack, Mrs Fredericks and the community.

Melody tries to learn sight-reading for the audition, which means she can’t help Nazli at the community centre. Jack steps up his efforts to recruit Junior.

Melody continues lessons and finds it hard going. Eric reminisces about the past and his lost love for Aunty Florrie. Junior attempts to cover up that he stole soccer boots.

Aunty Florrie refuses to teach Melody to read music after she didn't arrive for her music lesson. Eric attempts to be a protective father of Junior.

Melody decides to give up on music. Eric agrees to Jacks request that Melody work at the shebeen. Junior discovers that Eric sold his soccer boots.

Melody has to convince aunty Florrie to teach her at an earlier time. Eric gets Melody to work at Jack's shebeen. Junior is offered soccer boots by Balla.

Melody starts performing at the shebeen and is a hit with the customers. Nazli's first performance with the community kids doesn't go well. Eric and Junior start to bond.

Melody becomes more popular at the shebeen. Jack wants to manage her and make her a star. Nazli makes an effort to get Melody involved in the community project.

Melody resumes her theory music lessons with Aunty Florrie, and makes up with Bevan. Jack gets Junior and Balla to sell drugs via his drugs on wheels scheme.

Melody fails the theory exam and contemplates killing herself. Aunty Florrie is the voice of reason when Melody fails her exams. Jack welcomes Melody back to his shebeen.

Jack forces Melody to take a job that she doesn't. Eric discovers Melody doing unacceptable work. Junior is caught in the midst of a riot by protestors at Jack's shebeen.

Melody attempts to save Aunty Florrie from dying. Eric's pent up anger for Aunty Florrie results in a disaster. Jack attempts to save Junior and Bevan from the protestors.

Melody loses all hope of succeeding at music. Eric resorts to extreme measures to earn money. Jack demands that Eric pays his debt, or he loses everything.

Melody discovers to her dismay that Jack is living with them. Nazli and Bevan's friendship blossoms. Melody lose control of her life and Junior runs away from home.

Melody finds Junior. Together they decide, that can't live in their home. If Jack controls it, they leave home and live on the dangerous streets.

The helpless Melody seeks the help of Aunty Florrie. Jack changes Eric's home into a profitable tavern. Junior via instructions from Jack is beaten up by Balla.

Melody, Junior and Eric reconcile. Eric offers to teach Melody to read music. Aunty Florrie takes Melody under her care and protection but without Eric's knowledge.

Melody rescues Eric from certain death. The community and Mrs Fredericks organize activities for the youth when Jack puts a stop to their plans. Melody nurses Eric back to health.

Eric decides to teach Melody to read music. Jack denies in court that he gave the gun to Balla to shoot Junior. Junior feels unwanted and decides to run away from Melody.
