World War II was the first time in history a war was fought by men and machines in the air at night. Veterans from both sides recount what they faced.
Season 1
S01:E01 - Nightfighters, 1939-1941
At the start of the war, both sides were not prepared for nighttime fighting. It was the defeat in France and the Battle of Britain that forced both sides to bomb at night.
S01:E02 - Millennium to Gomorrah, 1942-1943
Bomber Command's losses were so great that new offensive techniques were required. The RAF developed the "bomber stream" and used technology to combat the German nightfighters.
S01:E03 - The Big City, 1944-1945
One raid on Berlin on January 28/29, 1944 is shown in detail, with all the planning, and electronic measures and counter-measures used by both sides against each other.
S01:E04 - Preserving the Memory
The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton has one of the largest collections of restored and flying WW2 aircraft. They are a memorial to the men who flew them.
