Restored footage traces five decades—from the Qing Dynasty's end to 1949—revealing the beauty, turmoil, and lives that shaped modern China.

Rare film reels capture a vanished China, from Qing Dynasty life and the Republic's birth to the early days of the Communist Party.

See 1930s Beijing in color and contrast Shanghais Jazz Age glamour with the Peoples Liberation Army marching through in 1949.
