S01:E01 - Episode 1
In this first episode, Mary cooks up a celebration of five delicious dishes suitable for those special days, when you’re having people around for dinner or simply want to treat a loved one at home. To start, Mary prepares some delicious salmon fillets with herbs and red pepper with a foolproof side of spiralized veg, perfect for any dinner party. Mary visits Ventnor in the Isle of Wight where she meets lobster-fishing expert Ed Blake who shows her how to catch the nation’s favourite delicacy. She then returns to the kitchen to make an indulgent treat of lobster tails with aioli and asparagus. Next Mary prepares a vegetable dish for all tastes – ‘Posh roast vegetables’ - before visiting Rules restaurant in London that has been open since 1798, and is renowned for its famous beef wellington. Here Mary enjoys a delicious meal with her friends before returning to the kitchen to create her own foolproof version of this dinner party favourite. To finish, a perfect ending for those truly special occasions– Latte panna cotta.
S01:E02 - Episode 2
In tonight’s programme, Mary cooks up the best of her comforting home cooked dishes; those that pick you up and put a smile on your face. To start, Mary prepares a warming roasted butternut squash soup with indulgent cheese and Parma ham twists. Next, a foolproof mackerel pate with lime that couldn’t be simpler followed by a warming Mexican tortilla bake, perfect for a cosy evening at home with the family. Mary also visits a garlic farm on the Isle of Wight where she meets Colin Boswell, to learns about the pungent bulb and taste some of their varied garlic dishes. Afterwards, Mary returns to the kitchen to make a comforting chicken casserole with garlic and rosemary crushed potatoes. Finally, Mary prepares a delicious crème caramel to enjoy time and time again.
S01:E03 - Episode 3
Tonight Mary cooks up a celebration of six delicious dishes perfect for outdoor entertaining and lazy summer days. To start, she prepares a luxurious whole seabass with lime and dill butter that couldn’t be simpler. Mary then meets crayfishing experts Jules and Nick to have a go at catching some crayfish in the Oxfordshire water, and afterwards it’s back to the kitchen to make her own dish using crayfish - an oriental vegetable salad. Next, Mary prepares two foolproof dishes guaranteed to go down a storm - lamb burgers with mint mayo and smoked Texan chicken wings – both perfect for outdoor cooking on those beautiful summer days. Finally, it’s a dish that really captures the essence of a British summer – her refreshing Lemon and Elderflower jellies.
S01:E04 - Episode 4
In tonight’s episode its scrumptious goodies to thrill the family and keep them coming back for more! First, Mary prepares a simple and easy herb flatbread that the whole family can muck in with. Next up, she enlists the help of two of her older granddaughters to prepare a delicious chicken and bacon lattice pie, with foolproof lattice pastry. Mary then moves onto a dish popular with her family, a light tuna salad with avocado and lemon mustard dressing. Then, to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth, Mary together with her grandsons make cranberry and coconut energy bars. Her final two dishes are perfect for a Sunday lunch when you don’t want to spend all morning in the kitchen; butterflied leg of lamb, followed by the ultimate foolproof pudding - honeycomb ice cream.
S01:E05 - Episode 5
Mary shares her foolproof recipes for those days when you are simply run off your feet. Her mantra is “get organised, and try to do things ahead” and tonight the dishes she prepares are ones you can get together in no time. Tomato soup made from ingredients from the store cupboard, and express bacon and pesto pasta are perfect examples of dishes that take under 20 minutes to rustle up. When Mary feels the need to unwind there is one recipe that is perfect for slowing things down - her salmon, fennel and pea risotto. After visiting Wiltshire and meeting Sonia who runs a veg box scheme, Mary is inspired to create a delicious roasted cauliflower dish, which is also the perfect accompaniment to her stuffed chicken thighs. Finally Mary makes the perfect little quick pud - passion fruit pots with sweet lemon crisps.
S01:E06 - Episode 6
In the final episode of the series, Mary showcases her dishes that are perfect for a party. Sometimes cooking for a crowd can be very daunting, but Mary loves sharing her ideas that are fun, different and don’t take forever to prepare. First up is a Thai chicken curry, perfect for a party and all people need is a fork and a bowl! Mary loves a classic dish, and what better way to showcase this than with her ham hock terrine. A visit to the Isle of Wight sees Mary taste some different varieties of tomato at the Tomato farm, before she returns to the kitchen to whip up a Tomato Salad with whipped goat’s cheese. Finally for something a bit different for a party - salmon and herb coulibiac - and for something more traditional - a show stopping big, bold and beautiful summer party gateau.
