S01:E102 - Andrew Scanlan Murder in the Woods
Detective Superintendent Mark Birch had to take decide to escalate a missing person case to a murder investigation just before Christmas in 2006. As the investigation unfolded a picture emerged of a brutal vengeance crime committed brothers on their brother. Culminating with video footage as one of the murderers takes the police into the woods to show them where the body has been buried.
S01:E103 - Steve Wright the Suffolk Strangler
In the ten days before Christmas 2006 Detective Chief Superintendent Stewart Gull was faced with every detective’s worst nightmare, as the bodies of five young murdered women are found in the Suffolk countryside. The ensuing manhunt becomes an international media circus as he is leading the hunt for one of Britain’s most notorious serial killers.

In 2007 when Detective Chief Inspector Howard Groves took a phone call from the Dutch Cold Case Team in Rotterdam he began one of the GB’s most complex murder investigations. Investigating two women’s bodies found in canals in GB and Holland eleven years apart. Meanwhile the suspect was already in prison for the violent attack on another woman, and was due to be released.
