Greek mythology is having another moment, and frankly, some of us never left. The Odyssey has everyone brushing up on gods, monsters, and ancient heroes, while BookTok has spent years proving that centuries-old stories can still inspire a very modern level of romantic obsession (Hades and Persephone, you will always be famous). That love of revisiting the classics extends to Jane Austen too, with Pride and Prejudice still fueling our collective yearning and The Other Bennet Sister giving Mary Bennet her own turn at romance. Which makes Seeking Persephone particularly well-timed.

Despite the mythological name, the four-part series trades the Underworld for Regency England, where Persephone Lancaster agrees to marry the wealthy, reclusive Duke of Kielder to save her family from financial ruin. He's scarred, guarded, and determined to keep everyone at a distance, so when Persephone moves into his gloomy estate she starts wondering whether the man underneath all those emotional walls might be worth knowing.

Marriage of convenience romance? Check. Beauty and the Beast energy? Absolutely. A brooding duke who could benefit enormously from discussing his feelings? The Cast

Ryann Bailey

Bailey gives Persephone a softness without making her passive. She enters the marriage knowing exactly why she's doing it, but Bailey gives her enough curiosity, resolve, and emotional openness that Persephone gradually becomes more than the woman tasked with melting the brooding duke's heart. She's kind, not clueless, and Bailey makes that distinction matter.

Jake Stormoen

Stormoen plays Adam Boyce, the Duke of Kielder, and gets the role Regency romance readers know well: wealthy, scarred, intimidating, emotionally unavailable, and apparently allergic to simply saying how he feels. But Stormoen keeps Adam from becoming a checklist of brooding-duke tropes by playing the distance as protection rather than attitude.

Toby-Alexander Smith

Smith's Harry Windover brings some much-needed oxygen into all that Regency repression. As Adam's longtime friend, Harry knows the man underneath the Duke of Kielder reputation, and Smith gives him an easy warmth that contrasts nicely with Stormoen's guarded performance. He can tease Adam, challenge him ,and reveal pieces of his history without becoming a walking exposition machine.
