Enter The Boonies, a 2019 teen treasure-hunt movie streaming on Tubi. Five childhood best friends have drifted apart by senior year, only to be pulled back together when a dead classmate, Doug, leaves behind a mysterious video sending them on a million-dollar treasure hunt inside their high school. There are clues hidden in lockers, secret passages, old grudges, and three rules for surviving the hunt: stick together, don't die, and confess your biggest secret.

The Cast

Calum Worthy

Worthy gets to be funny, mysterious, and just theatrical enough as Doug, the friend whose posthumous videos send the Boonies on their million-dollar treasure hunt. Worthy clearly understands the heightened tone of the movie and has fun playing Doug like the kid who somehow managed to make himself the center of attention even after he's gone.

Andi Matichak

Matichak gives Holly a grounded, easygoing presence that keeps her from feeling like just another teen-movie archetype. She has a natural way of playing the comedy without pushing for the joke, and that restraint makes Holly feel especially believable when the old friendships start resurfacing.

Cody Ko

Ko brings his signature dry delivery to Teddy, giving him the energy of someone who would rather make a joke than admit he’s emotionally invested in anything. That understated comedic style works especially well against the movie’s bigger personalities, but Ko also lets enough sincerity through to sell Teddy’s long history with his childhood friends.

Lauren Elizabeth

Elizabeth gives Stephanie the confidence of someone who knows exactly where she sits in the high-school hierarchy and has no plans to surrender the seat. She commits to Stephanie’s popular-girl attitude while still finding enough personality underneath it to keep her from becoming just “the mean one.”

Kyle Jones

Jones goes bigger with Chuck, leaning into the jock energy while giving the group one of its more openly comedic personalities. The fun comes from how comfortably Jones plays off the others, especially when the insults start flying and the childhood-friend dynamic comes roaring back.

Amymarie Gaertner

Gaertner brings a darker, cooler edge to Elektra that immediately distinguishes her from the rest of the group. Her performance plays nicely with the movie’s heightened teen-comedy tone, especially because Elektra feels completely comfortable being the person who doesn't quite match everyone else's energy.
