Six fall movies and shows on Tubi for anyone emotionally ready for sweaters while the weather says absolutely not.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is officially back at Starbucks, which means we have entered that very specific time of year when the calendar says summer but your coffee is whispering, “Put on a sweater.” Never mind that autumn doesn't officially begin until late September. Pumpkin spice has arrived. Mentally, some of us are already three candles deep.
Unfortunately, the weather may need a little more time to catch up. So while we wait for actual sweater weather, changing leaves, and the first socially acceptable decorative gourd, consider these six fall movies and TV shows on Tubi your pre-fall starter pack. We’ve got New England small towns, witches, autumn romance, early Halloween energy, and even a movie literally called Pumpkin. Subtlety has left for the season.
Mystic Pizza
If your version of fall involves a small New England town, a cozy neighborhood restaurant, and the vague urge to dramatically reconsider your entire future, welcome to Mystic Pizza. Julia Roberts, Annabeth Gish, and Lili Taylor play three young women working at a pizza shop in coastal Connecticut while navigating love, friendship, and the terrifying question of what comes after high school.
It’s the kind of New England comfort movie that makes an ordinary town feel like somewhere you'd happily spend an entire season. The relationships are messy, the future is uncertain, and the pizza looks considerably better than whatever you planned for dinner.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Some people see pumpkin spice and think cozy. Others immediately think witches. For the second group, Sabrina the Teenage Witch has seven seasons of Melissa Joan Hart discovering magical powers, navigating school, and getting questionable supernatural advice from two aunts and one extremely opinionated cat.
Sabrina is basically cozy fall tv with a spell book. It has magic without requiring you to sleep with the lights on, teen drama without abandoning the fun, and enough Salem attitude to make owning a black cat suddenly seem like a seasonal requirement. If your fall watchlist starts getting witchy before Halloween, you're in the right place. Halloween can wait. Salem cannot.
Autumn in New York
The title alone has already done approximately 80 percent of the seasonal work. Autumn in New York pairs Richard Gere and Winona Ryder in an unexpected romance set against fall in New York City, where falling leaves and complicated feelings are apparently operating on the same schedule.
This is for the person whose cozy fall movie fantasy is less pumpkin patch and more long coat, city street, stare wistfully into the middle distance. It's romantic, melancholy and exactly the kind of movie that makes you want the temperature to drop 20 degrees purely for aesthetic reasons.
The Addams Family
Maybe you're not waiting for fall. Maybe you saw the first pumpkin-flavored item hit a menu and immediately skipped to October 31. Respect.
The Addams Family is for anyone whose seasonal progression goes summer → one PSL → Halloween. Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday and the rest of the family bring family-friendly spooky-season energy without making this a full horror commitment, which is ideal when you want cobwebs and creepy mansions but aren't quite ready for somebody to start running from a chainsaw. Consider it an early Halloween movie for people already mentally in October.
Pumpkin
Yes, we chose Pumpkin partly because this is an article inspired by the return of pumpkin spice. No, the Christina Ricci movie is not secretly about seasonal coffee. We checked.
Instead, Pumpkin is a 2002 dark comedy about Carolyn, a sorority student whose carefully organized worldview starts unraveling after she begins coaching and develops feelings for a disabled young man. It's stranger, sharper and considerably less cozy than its title might suggest, which makes it the wildcard of the fall watchlist.
Little Italy
Fall fever isn't always about witches and foliage. Sometimes you just want food, romance, and a neighborhood where everybody knows everybody else's business. Little Italy serves exactly that, with Emma Roberts and Hayden Christensen playing childhood friends from rival pizza families whose reunion complicates a feud that has apparently gone on long enough to involve the next generation.
It’s warm, romantic, and cozy rom-com comfort viewing in the most literal sense. When you're still waiting for the leaves to change but already craving the movie equivalent of something baked, cheesy, and eaten while wearing an unnecessarily large sweater, pizza will hold us over until pumpkin season fully clocks in.
