Sam Sheppard is found guilty of killing his wife, despite his pleas of innocence. Years later, after a lengthy investigation of the case, he is freed but not fully exonerated.

A decomposing corpse is hauled out of the English Channel. Tiny clues and detective work identify the body. Trouble is, the "corpse" is still walking around doing business.
