Great Battles of WWII

The Battle of the Bulge was one of the greatest battles of WWII, as well as the largest and bloodiest single battle fought by the United States in World War II.

The Battle of Midway was an epic battle between the U.S. Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy on June 3- 6, 1942. The U.S. NavyÕs decisive victory in the air-sea battle and its successful defense of the major U.S. base located at Midway Island turned the tide of World War II in the Pacific.

The Battle to liberate Italy began with the invasion of Sicily by Allied forces in July 1943, and led to the collapse of the Fascist Italian Regime, the fall of Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini and the surrender of the German Armed Forces in Italy in April 1945.

D-Day on June 6, 1944, brought together the land, air, and sea forces of the Allied armies in what became known as the largest amphibious invasion in military history on the beaches of Normandy, France. This was a decisive victory for the Allied forces which liberated France and ultimately led to the surrender of the German Nazi forces to end the war.
