Shawnta Welch assembles a group of 3 single mothers and engages them on a journey toward self-determination and personal growth in the pilot episode of Single and Successful.

Shawnta assembles the ladies in the boardroom for a special lesson with a celebrity guest. The ladies are informed they must be willing to face their fears and risk it all for success by conquering an extreme zip lining course.

The ladies are put to work via a special guest mentor, Olympian Hazel Clark. The ladies learn the value of hard work, but also another crucial lesson.

After an informative boardroom session featuring Lorraine Smith, mother of R&B sensation Ne-Yo, Shawnta tasks the ladies with finding items from their lives that only serve to hold them back.

Shawnta, still reeling from her mother's medical scare has them women construct a boat. She informs them that this cardboard boat must be sea-worthy and support a person on the water.

The ladies learn a powerful lesson about how small issues can quickly escalate to big problems. With the help of a spooky trip to a miniature golf course, these ladies find out just how complicated a simple task can become.

Shawnta and the ladies reflect on the journey thus far and celebrate some of the accomplishments and growth they have made in the program. Life will never be the same things to Shawnta, and the amazing journey she orchestrated.

The ladies learn a powerful lesson about diversifying their income and not leaving all their "eggs in one basket". To illustrate this point, Shawnta has the ladies corralling chickens, culminating with a challenge that takes place in the middle of an active open house.
