Sakura’s pleas fall on deaf ears, and Sasuke leaves Hidden Leaf Village. When Tsunade learns of this, she summons Shikamaru to lead his first mission as a chunin.

Naruto and the others are trapped in Jirobo’s Earth Dome Prison. They try to pound their way out, but the walls regenerate each time.

After they are freed from the Earth Dome Prison, Shikamaru and the others take off after the remaining Sound while Choji stays behind.

After Choji takes the yellow pill it looks as if he may win the battle, until Jirobo transforms into Second State, giving him immense power.

Assuming that the Leaf squad could never get past Jirobo, the remaining Sound ninja don’t bother to lay traps along the way.

Neji takes on Kidomaru while the others continue their pursuit of Sasuke and the remaining Sound ninja.

Kidomaru changes tactics and creates a bow and arrow to attack Neji’s blind spot.

Naruto, Shikamaru, Kiba and Akamaru are in hot pursuit of Sasuke and the Sound ninja. Naruto and Kiba are upset that they have been unable to catch up and decide to try a surprise attack at night.

Akamaru sets explosives in the trees to trap Sakon. But an incensed Sakon turns the tables, and the explosives end up sending Kiba, Akamaru and Sakon off a cliff.

Shikamaru is determined to stop Tayuya, but she uses her Summoning Jutsu to call forth three giants. Meanwhile, on the plains, the battle between Kimimaro and Naruto is about to begin.

Ukon, who is able to infiltrate the bodies of others, enters Kiba’s body and tries to merge with his cells.

An injured Kiba and Akamaru barely escape from Sakon and Ukon. Naruto is locked in battle with Kimimaro…

Shikamaru succeeds in trapping Tayuya with his Shadow Possession Jutsu. But Tayuya moves to her Second State and fights back with enormous strength.

With Rock Lee there to take on Kimimaro, Naruto is free to chase after Sasuke, who has awakened.

Shikamaru, Kiba and Lee are at the limits of their strength when Gaara, Temari and Kankuro appear to assist their Leaf allies.

Kimimaro realizes that close combat is impossible against Gaara’s wall of sand, so he moves further away for a long-distance attack.

Sakura tries to sneak out of the village to find Sasuke, but Naruto intercepts her.

Naruto, Sakura and Jiraiya search for information in a town in the Land of Rice Paddies.

Naruto, Sakura and Sasame are attacked by Kamikiri, Jigumo and Kagero of the Fuma Clan.

Jiraiya uses his Summoning Jutsu to call out Gamakichi. With Gamakichi leading the way, the shinobi advance up winding stairways and through long tunnels.

Sakura is cornered by Orochimaru! Just as Kabuto is about to hurl his kunai at her, Naruto comes running in.

Naruto tries to shield Sakura from an attack and is wounded by Kamikiri. Naruto laughs off his injury and counters with his Shadow Clone Jutsu…

Naruto gets upset when Jiraiya sets out on a sudden mission without him. Jiraiya tells him to undergo special training during his absence and hands him a scroll.

Shizune pursues Mizuki who has escaped from the Maximum Security Prison, but is overcome by him and the brothers Raijin and Fujin.

Raijin and Fujin possess superhuman strength, and Naruto is no match for them.

Shikamaru, Ino and Choji come to the rescue.

Naruto discovers that Tsubaki is Mizuki’s fiancée. She has an idea of his whereabouts and asks the squad to take her with them.

Naruto and Iruka are left in a daze by the power of Mizuki’s chakra. Naruto counters with a jutsu but is quickly rebuffed.

Kiba, Shino and Hinata have come up with an idea to use the Bikochu beetle to find Sasuke.

Hinata is kidnapped by Suzumebachi and others from the Kamizuru Clan.

Naruto, Kiba and Shino are pursued and find themselves cornered in the hive of a queen bee.

While training in the Hidden Leaf Village, Naruto rescues three men from the rapids who have come to request a mission.

The Kurosuki gang captures Rokusuke, and Raiga tells him that he will hold a funeral for him!

Raiga and Ranmaru use their Hidden Mist jutsu to conceal themselves in Katabami Gold Mine, where even Neji’s Byakugan cannot detect them.

The Kurosuki Family is dispersed, and peace returns to Katabami Gold Mine.

Raiga comes back to life, only to see Ranmaru lying deathly still on the ground.
