A new competition pitting independent bakeries head to head begins with a trip to Dorset and Somerset.

In todays episode three more independent bakeries compete for the title of Britains best under the watchful eyes of expert judges in London.

Traveling to Kent, Essex and East Sussex they sample the delights of the Garden of England.

Its the Southern regional final, and the four bakeries that won this weeks heats are back to do battle once more.

In todays episode the three competing independent bakeries are all from the flatlands of East Anglia.

The competition continues with judges Mich Turner and Peter Sidwell heading to the East Midlands and Staffordshire.

Mich and Peter have their work cut out trying everything from a traditional Welsh cake to a Barra Brith fruit cake to a spicy Kurdish Pasty!

Its the Central regional final, and the four bakeries that triumphed in this weeks heats return to fight for a place in national finals week.

The hunt for Britains best bakery heads North as Judges Mich Turner MBE and Peter Sidwell sample the regional delights of the North West.

A brother and sister run bakery and a Marco Pierre White trained Patisserie Chef are challenged to bake the perfect Yorkshire Parkin.

Today they scour the beautiful Lake District in search of the baking perfection.

The search continues north of the border. Three independent Scottish Bakeries are out to impress them, but only one can stay in the competition

It's the first day of the final week and the six remaining bakeries are back to battle it out for the title of Britain's Best Bakery.

Only 4 contenders remain in the competition as they battle it out at Newmarket races to supply high quality bakes to the ravenous racing spectators.

Judges Peter and Mich have chosen their top 3 bakeries. Today the 3 finalists will compete in bread special.

Our three bakeries have just two days to create an entirely new baked item that the Judges hope will become eponymous with each of their home towns.

Its the Grand Final. Today one bakery will lift the ultimate baking trophy by designing and baking the ultimate cake.
