Still Standing

On May 3, 2016, Canadians were shattered by news of a massive wildfire in Fort McMurray. Nicknamed The Beast this fire was a crushing blow to a town still reeling from the oil collapse of 2014. Residents began to return home on June 1, 2016 experiencing joy, shock and despair. But, Fort Mac's melange of cultures has come together to rebuild homes, re-establish businesses, initiate new projects and rebuild their community. Their hope is to rise out of the ashes as a stronger and better Fort McMurray.
