We join elderly Yorkie-cross Sally and her new owners to a Dog First Aid training day where they learn useful tips, from finding a pulse to doggy CPR. In South London, Inspector Kate Fletcher rescues Cassie the Staffie from a house littered with drugs and used needles. Worried that Cassie might have ingested drugs, Kate races her to a vets for a drugs test. Specialist police dog trainer PC Lee Webb puts 12 month old Staffie, Tyson through his paces to see if he’s got the right stuff to become a canine officer of the law. In Durham we join Inspector Emma Stainthorpe on a dawn raid to rescues 50 dogs from horrific conditions. Last year Birmingham based Inspector Herchy Boal rescued a very skinny Elsie; we visit her in her new home.

S02:E01 - Episode 1
Dog lover and QI expert Alan Davies presents the second series of The Dog Rescuers. In the first episode we go to Birmingham with inspector Herchy Boal. She finds a dog who is left in its own filth in a room with no food or water and health issues from its nose to toes. In Bristol we catch-up with Sasha, who was having trouble shedding excess pounds and is still struggling 12 months on. We follow her to a unique hydrotherapy class to help her shed the pounds. In Luton, Inspector Stephanie Law visits a disobedient Akita who is running circles around its owner. With help from a professional trainer the owner tries to get back in the lead. With RSPCA archives we see a little poodle recover from horrendous neglect. And we celebrate a one-year birthday with puppies rescued from horrendous conditions on a puppy farm.

Inspector Herchy Boal finds a skinny young Labrador in desperate need of veterinary attention.Inspector Jayne Bashford visits a house where new tenants claim to have found Bruno the Staffie abandoned in the garden. But Jayne discovers surprising information about the true story of Bruno. We follow Leo, an anxious German Shepard’s training in a specially designed sensory garden to help transform him into a lovable family pet. Inspector Graeme Petty discovers two very dirty Shih Tzus abandoned in a filthy house. Last year Inspector Miranda Albinson discovered two skinny Newfoundlands starving in cages. We catch-up with these gentle giants in their new home. With RSPCA archive footage we reveal a shocking discovery of kennels, where animals have been left for dead. We meet the owners of lucky survivor Winston the Golden Retriever.

S02:E04 - Episode 4
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Leybourne Animal Centre. In Essex Deputy Inspector Matt Gough is called to a remote farm, where there are allegedly dogs being kept in poor conditions. But when he arrives, he has to coordinate a mammoth operation between police, the fire service and the RSPCA to remove 72 dogs. While on patrol in Plymouth, Inspector Sarah Morris picks up a dog running free on the streets. But it’s not a stray, but a young Border collie called Beau, who ran away from her owner in the park. We follow Beau on a training day to see if she can learn to obey orders. We join the RSPCA Ruffs competition, an alternative doggy beauty pageant to celebrate the perfectly imperfect. And we catch-up with Lupo, a Rottweiler-cross rescued last year from a filthy caravan on a farm in Wales.
S02:E05 - Episode 5

In this Episode, Liverpool based Inspector, Anthony Joynes calls on the assistance of the police to help rescue an abandoned Boxer who has been locked in a house with no food and water. In Northamptonshire, Inspector Michelle McNab revisits an owner with a house full of bulldog puppies. With RSPCA archive footage we see how a puppy called Dudley, survived unbelievable cruelty at only 8 weeks old. In Birmingham Inspector Suzie Payne gets a call about a dog allegedly left abandoned in a back garden. But a very angry owner turns up demanding to keep his dog. We follow dog behaviourist Jaqi Bunn as she tries to desensitise an unsocialised and nervous dogs called, Sooty. And we revisit a Staffie, who had a badly broken leg from a car accident.
S02:E06 - Episode 6
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Newbrook Animal Centre. In Birmingham, Inspector Scott Vanes saves a young Staffie tethered to a makeshift kennel, in a filthy rubbish strewn garden. In London, Inspector Annie Simmonds visits a house where a family of Staffies where new born puppies are kept outside in unsuitable conditions. Inspector Herchy Boal visits a house in Birmingham and discovers Archie, a shockingly thin Labrador. Last year Inspector Sarah Hughes rescued emaciated Ridgebacks Carla and Dudley. We revisit Carla in her new home. With RSPCA archive footage, we see a father and son due who routinely trained their dogs to kill wildlife, but thanks to Inspector Anthony Joynes’ they didn’t get away with their abhorrent cruelty. And we spend a day with super-rescue dog Sky, as she and owner Laura Field compete in the Adams Agility Show.
S02:E07 - Episode 7
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Newbrook Animal Centre. In Mitcham Inspector Nick Wheelhouse gets a call-out about two dogs that has been fighting, but aggressive dogs can be a challenge. In Liverpool Inspector Anthony Joynes investigates a property where a number of English Bulldogs may have been kept for breeding. We join three-legged dog Bella and her new owners for hydrotherapy to help develop the muscles in her back leg. In May last year, Inspector Stuart Wainwright found dogs boarded into filthy sheds. A year on, we visit one of the dogs with her new owner. In 2008, the RSPCA raided breeding kennels where a colossal 99 St Bernards were rescued. We revisit one of the rescued dogs. And in London Inspectors Annie Simmonds and Natalie Bartle investigates a dog allegedly abandoned. But sometimes the complaints aren’t always as they first seem.
S02:E08 - Episode 8
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Newbrook Animal Centre. Inspector Annie Simmonds is called out to assist a colleague in an emergency case involving a fight between a Husky and a bull-breed dog. Oslo – the male Husky is badly injured and is in need of urgent medical attention. We also meet Maggie – a rescued Shih-Tzu that’s part of Pets As Therapy. Children from the local high school take turns to read to this cute little pooch. In Staffordshire, Deputy Chief Inspector Jayne Bashford – accompanied by the police – discovers a disturbing turn of events were puppies have been buried alive in the back garden of a house. And finally, Inspector Natalie Bartle receives a call about a Bullmastiff-cross puppy that has been abandoned in a cardboard box in West London.
S02:E09 - Episode 9
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Millbrook Animal Centre. Chief Inspector Cathy Hyde she works with police to bust up a suspected puppy trafficking ring in Lancashire. Gizmo the Collie has issues with confidence. He meets Nij Vyas - an independent sheep-dog trainer and behaviourist – who believes that by bringing some nervous dogs closer to sheep it can help with their confidence. Inspector Herchy Boal visits a dog owner living with a large number of Huskies. The Huskies are proving too much for the other residents of this home. Inspector Clare Dew heads to North London after a receiving a call about Dixie - a Maltese Terrier Cross that has been left on the roof of a take-away shop. Inspector Gemma Potter and her colleagues raid a farm only to discover some very young and very cold puppies stuffed in suitcases.
S02:E10 - Episode 10
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Millbrook Animal Centre. Deputy Chief Inspector Jayne Bashford finds a Labrador puppy abandoned and in a shocking state of neglect in Staffordshire. Inspector Chris Shaw discovers Kia - a rather nervous Alaskan Malamute - in a back garden. Lady – a deaf, nine-month-old American Bulldog puppy is taught sign language by Independent Canine Behaviour Consultant, Jaqi Bunn. Inspector Susie Payne investigates three female Staffordshire Bull Terriers packed into a tiny cage in an attempt to keep them away from ladies-man, male Staffie Gizmo. Tony Woodley rushes to check on a Chihuahua puppy that has been left in a car on an industrial estate on a cold winter’s night. We re-visit two collies in Wales that were rescued last year from appalling living conditions. This tale has a happy ending for both collies.
S02:E11 - Episode 11
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Millbrook Animal Centre. Inspector Kate Fletcher responds to a call about a dog that’s possibly been neglected. On arrival she sees Bella – an emaciated Belgian Shepherd that looks like she’s close to death. Inspector Jason Bowles returns to check on Tyson the Husky after leaving his owner with several improvement notices. We meet Minnie, a young and unruly Leonberger-cross who’s being trained by RSPCA animal care assistant Katie MacNeil. Inspector Kirsty Withnall retells the story of 60 semi-feral collies found in one very dirty house. Inspector Anthony Pulfer visits an elderly man and his best friend Theo the jack Russell and offers to take Theo to the vets for a quick haircut. And we re-visit Ace the Staffie who was abandoned and tied up to a park bench last year in Derby.
S02:E12 - Episode 12
QI expert Alan Davies, introduces incredible stories of Dog rescues from the RSPCA's Millbrook Animal Centre. In this special episode, Inspector Anthony Joynes takes a trip to Malawi for an African adventure. We follow Anthony assisting in rescuing a dog that has fallen down a manhole, where he works with the LSPCA and local police to rescue puppies from an illegal roadside puppy seller and rescuing a stray dog riddled with diseases. Last year, Inspector Vicki McDonald rescued a hoard of feral dogs from a property in Manchester. We revisit Susie, one of the rescued dogs in her new home. Inspector Graeme Petty responds to a call about two dogs that have been left outside for a long time. We also meet Molly the Shih-Tzu rescued by Inspector Trevor Walker, whose fur was so long and matted from food and excrement that she was barely able to see or walk.
