Season 1 Episode 5 - To Edge the Frozen Sea
In this five part "living history" series about eight "average people" (7 men and one women) who volunteer to relive an adventure. The epic 1200 kilometer journey by the Hudson's Bay Company fur traders of 1840s from Winnipeg, to the Hudson Bay. They undertake this grueling and difficult journey through the heart of the Canadian wilderness in a historically accurate York Boat. Rowing 12 to 14 hours a day, carrying 180 lb. packs, shooting the rapids, and covering over 1200 kilometers, the trip will take eight to twelve weeks. In this final episode the boat has been destroyed, the group fragmented. The team battles illness, distrust, and the approaching arctic cold to keep their dream alive of completing their Quest for the Bay.

S01:E01 - The Company of Adventures

Episode one begins with the rigorous candidate selection process. We meet the successful candidates who have agreed to undertake the 1200 kilometer quest to the Hudson Bay. We learn about the dangers of the quest, and follow the crew in their initial week of the journey as they come face-to-face with the hardships of life in 1840.
S01:E02 - The Lake

They undertake this grueling and difficult journey through the heart of the Canadian wilderness in a historically accurate York Boat. In Episode 2 the arduous task of rowing the York boat to the Hudson Bay begins under a searing, hot summer sun. The heat and insects begin to take a toll. The crew makes a number of bad decisions which jeopardize the quest, however they finally arrive at the Cree community of Norway House at the top of Lake Winnipeg.
S01:E03 - The Great Portage
In this five part "living history" series about eight "average people" (7 men and one women) who volunteer to relive an adventure. The epic 1200 kilometer journey by the Hudson's Bay Company fur traders of 1840s from Winnipeg, to the Hudson Bay. They undertake this grueling and difficult journey through the heart of the Canadian wilderness in a historically accurate York Boat. Rowing 12 to 14 hours a day, carrying 180 lb. packs, shooting the rapids, and covering over 1200 kilometers, the trip will take eight to twelve weeks. In Episode 3 "The Great Portage" the crew leaves the security of Norway House, as the York boat sets out into the northern wilderness. They fight their way over barricades of beaver dams and drag the boat through the leech-filled sloughs of the Echimamish River before reaching the arduous 1600-meter Robinson Portage. The spirit of the group cracks under the intensity of the portage as the good weather turns to a torrential rain.
S01:E04 - Beyond's Hell Gate
In this five part "living history" series about eight "average people" (7 men and one women) who volunteer to relive an adventure. The epic 1200 kilometer journey by the Hudson's Bay Company fur traders of 1840s from Winnipeg, to the Hudson Bay. They undertake this grueling and difficult journey through the heart of the Canadian wilderness in a historically accurate York Boat. In this Episode the crew have reached the magnificent Hayes River. The spirit of the group is threatened by a leadership struggle between two strong, but different men. Tired and hungry a decision is made to run a dangerous set of rapids and calamity occurs.
