Thanksgiving Blessing Isaac Canales was only eleven years old when he experienced his miracle on Thanksgiving. To Isaac, the Thanksgiving dinner was a special one, and was honored every year, but, the family was poor, and making the twenty-six dollar a month rent was difficult. IsaacÍs father was a pastor, and his congregation was small, and as the holiday approached, Isaac grew worried because he knew the family wouldnÍt have enough money to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner that year. Every day he would ask his mother what they would do, and every day she replied, ñDonÍt worry Isaac, the Lord will provide.î The night before Thanksgiving, when all hope appeared lost, a stranger resembling Clark Gable walked into their tiny church, and placed twenty silver dollars in the collection plate. Isaac knew then that he owed a prayer of thanks. Miracle in the Mailroom James Austin and Yvette ñCookieî Richardson worked side-by-side in PhiladelphiaÍs main Post Office for two years, and they never knew that they were long lost siblings. When James first arrived in the cancellations department, Yvette, who everybody called ñCookie,î was given the task of training the new employee. The two often made small talk about weather and work, but never more personal than that. One day, during a union meeting, James and another co-worker named Barrie Bowens started chatting about their lives. James mentioned to Barrie that he lost his father at a young age, and he never knew his mother. Barrie asked James if he knew what his motherÍs name was, to which he replied, ñVeronica Potter.î Barrie was shocked, because that was also her friend CookieÍs motherÍs name. James added that he did have a sister named Yvette, but they were separated when they were both real young. Barrie, again, was in shock, because her friend CookieÍs real name was Yvette! That night, Barrie rushed to find Yvette after their shifts started. She already knew YvetteÍs family history, and she wanted Yvette if she was ready to meet her brother. Yvette couldnÍt believe what Barrie was saying, and the two of them rushed to find James. It was trueƒ the two turned out to be long lost siblings that had worked side-by-side for two years. The reunion was a miracle, and a week later, James was able to meet the mother heÍd been separated from for thirty years. Today, James and Cookie are still both working at the Post Office, and they eat lunch together every day, and spend holidays together, as well. The Power of Prayer Stephanie Sumner was displaying flu-like symptoms one evening last October. Less than twenty-four hours later, she was in the intensive care unit of Riley ChildrenÍs Hospital in Indianapolis, IN with a deadly disease that was ravaging her body. Stephanie survived, but only after several months of being in critical condition. Family, friends, classmates, teachers, and even total strangers came together with prayer and support, and were inspired by the courage and determination of this little girl. She alone has given hope to other people who are ill, and her spirit serves as an inspiration to many others. Thanksgiving Angel Thanksgiving 1969 was a difficult day for Ivy Olson, a twenty-five-year-old divorced mother of two young children. Broke and feeling alone, all she could offer her children for their holiday meal was a hotdog. Unexpectedly, a neighbor she had never met before invited her and her children to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The elderly woman made Ivy feel comfortable and loved. However, when Ivy returned to the womanÍs apartment the following day to thank her, it was vacant. Her landlord told her no one had lived there for months.
