Legend has it that Euripides predicted that when people looked at the ruins of the Acropolis, they would imagine Athens was five times more important that it actually was. Upon its elevated platform, the Acropolis boasts four of the greatest ever masterpieces of classical architecture, all built within 40 years. Even today, it is hard to over-estimate their beauty and influence.
