Season 1 Episode 19 - Blood Will Tell
A lawyer arrives at the colony looking for the last reaming heir to the Gresham fortune. A lad appears that everyone assumes is lying, but doubts begin to rise over the lad's true origins. Captain Dan Tempest instructs one of his younger crewman to pose as the same identity the imposter claims to be, with a debate ensuing as to which of the two lads is genuinely who they contend to be. With both prospects admittedly lying about their true identities in secret for the potential reward of an heir's fortune, the stakes could not be higher in this realm of mischief and deceit.

Season 1
S01:E01 - Blackbeard
Captain Woodes Rogers travels to the Bahamas to accept his new position as Governor. With him he brings a King's pardon to all who will give up piracy. Blackbeard is not convinced and suspects a trap. There is dissension among the pirates between who wants the pardon and who does not. In the confusion Blackbeard makes his escape.
S01:E02 - The Raiders
The island of New Providence is in danger from pirate raiders led by Charles Vane. Governor Rogers must decide on whether to go after Vane, thus leaving the island unprotected, or repairing the damaged fort and waiting for Vane to return and strike again. A democratic vote amongst the island's hierarchy mandates a call to attack their newly presented foes, banding together to make a statement that the island is no one's for the taking.
S01:E03 - Captain Dan Tempest
Captain Dan Tempest arrives at the island of New Providence. He is several weeks late to accept the pardon and is promptly arrested by Governor Rogers for piracy. He is later approached by Rogers and given a chance to redeem himself by delivering cargo to Charleston. Lt. Beamish accompanies him on the voyage. When they are met on the open sea by Blackbeard, will Tempest fight him or join him?
S01:E04 - Dan Tempest's War With Spain
Gov. Woodes Rogers has left the Island of New Providence and left Lt. Beamish in command as Acting Governor. Meanwhile a Spanish Galleon has sailed into the harbor presumably with peaceful intentions. While Beamish believes their message of peace the one group that does not is languishing in jail...Dan Tempest and his men arrested for a barroom brawl. Beamish is soon betrayed by the Spaniard Captain and it's up to Tempest to save the Island from the Spanish.
S01:E05 - The Wasp
A raiding party of pirates led by Blackbeard is looting the storehouse of New Providence. They leave behind one teenage lad to cover their retreat. Tempest is frustrated that raids like this can happen and wants Beamish to supply him with weapons to arm his sloop so he can go to sea and take the fight to them. Beamish sees to it and the captured boy is pressed into service as Tempest's cabin boy and they head out to sea to search for Blackbeard.
S01:E06 - Whale Gold
A crew are at sea in search of Ambergris, better known as whale gold. A substance worth 5 times its weight in gold. When a number of the crew find a deposit on an island things get difficult when they try to hide their find from the rest of the crew. Tension inevitably amplifies when natural suspicion is raised and those in a position of possession become fixated on bettering themselves and shielding their find from the others. Greediness takes hold of the crew, with an internal struggle arising for the hefty prize up for grabs.
S01:E07 - The Slave Ship
Three slaves escape to sea and in turn discover and capture a slave ship themselves. They know the British will be coming after them and so begins a desperate bid for freedom. Thanks to a series of fortunate incidentals, they are able to commandeer the large ship with ease, wrangle the ship's arsenal of slaves to form a band of freedmen, and stumble into the notorious Captain Tempest, who happily obliges to help the fugitives take control of their ill-fated destiny as hopeless slaves.
S01:E08 - Gunpowder Plot
Tempest is tasked with securing extra gun powder from the Admiralty after a succession pirate raids. The Admiralty refuses to give him the gunpowder and Tempest has to resort to some unconventional tactics. Resorting to stealing the necessary materials at his own discretion, an intense battle breaks out between Tempest's Jolly Roger and the ground fleet on New Providence. The ensuing firefight concludes with the potential for a budding romance between Tempest and the governor's daughter, the captain's crew making it out unscathed, and a replenished arsenal of gunpowder for the troubled island.
S01:E09 - The Ladies
Word comes through that a promised shipload of women is approaching New Providence. Tempest and the island administration have a concern that Blackbeard may be aware of the ship and decide to lay a trap for him if he attacks. The hybrid band of soldiers and pirates, though reluctant at first, collaborate to help the shipment of innocuous young women arrive safely without incident. Blackbeard, however, has received word of the ship's precious cargo, and sets out to take the women for himself, unaware of the trap that awaits him.
S01:E10 - The Surgeon of San Rojo
When a typhus outbreak hits New Providence, Captain Tempest must launch a desperate mission to bring relief to the dying inhabitants. He devises a mischievous plan to pose as Indians and kidnap an esteemed Spanish doctor, taking him to the British colony to treat the contagious outbreak plaguing the citizenry. The island, already in a mass state of panic, is set in a frenzy when conflicting ideas of how to contain the sickness make for a sticky situation that it appears only the Spanish doctor can maneuver.
S01:E11 - Before the Mast
A pirate ship is seen in the waters around New Providence, with a Spanish blockade already in place, Tempest concocts an audacious plan to not only stop the pirate but destroy his ship. After the rogue pirates set fire to Tempest's ship, Tempest and his men swear total revenge, vowing to sink the instigator, his crew and his ship to the bottom of the sea. To accomplish this he poses as an eyepatched pirate known as One Eye to infiltrate the enemy's operation and foil the ship from the inside out.
S01:E12 - Dan Tempest and the Amazons
A French Privateer arrives in New Providence with a very strange cargo. As discussions continue the prospective cargo decide the matter for both parties. A group of five young women, all aboard the ship, commandeer the vessel in an effort to rid themselves of their confined patriarchal lives, taking the ship hostage and banishing all of its original crew. Things complicate when the women take one of Tempest's crew hostage, where he is desperate to convince them they are not pirates before they harm the rest of Tempest's crew or himself.
S01:E13 - The Articles of War
The island is running out of food. The situation becomes even more desperate when a Spanish naval ship arrives insisting that if Spanish prisoners are not released then an expected food ship will be attacked and destroyed. Captain Dan Tempest and his crew attempt to disguise one of their own as the most high-profile Spanish prisoner, though the Spanish captain sees right through the ploy and reiterates the strict non-negotiability, imploring the pirates to negotiate the trade as the terms command.
S01:E14 - The Hand of the Hawk
The authorities are trying to drum up more business for the colony. The first merchantmen to arrive has a crew member killed with a warning, "beware the mark of the Hawk". Dan needs to try and figure out who the murderer might have been and what the significance of the warning is. One of Captain Dan Tempest's men successfully stows away in the suspect's ship, where he must make the vessel's location known and accessible, for fear it could escape without any retribution for its deathly crimes.
S01:E15 - Marooned
The colony is celebrating the Kings birthday when a raiding party led by pirate Clip West attacks and steals most of the supplies. Once the authorities become aware of the situation, Dan is sent in pursuit of the raiding party. The thief is revealed to be a notorious pirate from Tempest's days on the high seas, who possesses a reputation too questionable for even Tempest's pirates to condone. Tempest takes the raiding party hostage aboard his ship, leading to a brutal showdown between the two rival squads.
S01:E16 - Gentleman Jack and the Lady
Tempest's ship clashes with another privateer over a prize. Capt Gentleman Jack issues a warning of revenge to Tempest and his crew. But Gentleman Jack is not the person people expected him to be. After confronting the ship's captain over the prize, it is revealed that a ploy has been set in place to feign the captain's true identity. She turns out to ultimately be a woman, posing as an unsuspecting occupant of the ship, with the initial privateer posing under the false guise to subvert suspicion of her identity. Embarrassed she has been found out as a woman trying to pose as a man in charge, Tempest comforts her, understanding her plight and assuring her they are all in the same boat, so to say.
S01:E17 - Mr. Beamish and the Hangman's Noose
A new acting governor arrives at the colony and immediately arrests Beamish on a string of charges that will require him to return to London for a court marshal. Tempest is convinced there is a political motive behind the act and sets out to discover who is behind the action. Things are made seemingly hopeless when Tempest is arrested for a botched escape attempt for the imprisoned Lt., but he instructs his men to uncover the conspiracy in his absence and free them both.
S01:E18 - Dead Man's Rock
With the Sultana out of action a Spanish warship takes the opportunity to attack the colony and arrest Governor Beamish. Tempest must find a way to rescue Beamish and stop the Spanish incursion. In response a plan is set in motion to break the innocent LT. out of his unjust sentence, during which more men are taken hostage and the operation becomes an unexpected rescue mission for a wave of Tempest's captured men.

S01:E20 - Dangerous Cargo
Tempest is tasked with transferring an important passenger from a passing British warship to Barbados all under the watchful eye of the Spanish. The passenger, a lady of royal stature, is on a mysterious mission that requires the utmost discretion, as well as minimal interference from any nearby parties. Although initially reluctant to transport the cargo, largely because of its association with the Spanish army, Captain Tempest takes a risk and assists the passenger, an upright lady in her safe passage through an active war zone.
S01:E21 - The Return of Calico Jack
Calico Jack arrives in the colony while Tempest is away on business. This leads to tension between the two crews, and inexperience in dealing with conflict leads to some difficult situations. Upon their initial encounter, a fight ensues, albeit provoked by one of Tempest's most trusted men. This leads to his arrest, which further inhibits the group dynamic of Tempest's team, paving the way for Calico's evil plans to replace Tempest as the premiere local sailor and take control of the port.
S01:E22 - Ghost Ship
Captain Tempest on board the Sultana encounters an abandoned Dutch ship. Tempest sees a prize, but a number of the crew fear it is a ghost ship and the spirits are restless. The squad as a whole is on edge after one of the sailors accidentally kills an albatross, an omen of bad luck, and they carry this superstitious paranoia with them into the dark unoccupied ghost ship. This is only further amplified by a series of unexplainable occurrences in which the ship appears to have a mind of its own, leaving the crew worried if they will be able to escape such a bizarre and haunted ship.
S01:E23 - Conquistador
A series of attacks are blamed on Dan Tempest and the crew of the Sultana. Beamish refuses to believe the situation till he sees Tempests actions with his own eyes. It is revealed that a Spanish pirate is attacking the island's port for a ransom of 10,000 pounds, a task which the pirate employs a malicious local to help with the manipulation of the facts. They claim that Captain Tempest is the one actually behind the attacks, and provokes the acting governor to set forth for the ransom exchange with a gun with Tempest's name on it, wholly unaware of his innocence in the ordeal.
S01:E24 - Mother Doughty's Crew
A series of pirate raids puts Dan Tempest under pressure to catch the perpetrator. Tempest has to also dampen down rumors his own crew may be behind the attacks. Set against the background of Tempest's first mate preparing for his impending wedding, circumstances are noticeably dissimilar to usual, with the men out of their element largely due to their investigation of mysterious pirate raiders that many suspect to secretly be Tempest's crew. The first mate's soon-to-be-mother-in-law reveals herself as having a more intimate knowledge of piracy than she had led on, which she uses to help the sailors destroy the rogue raiders' ship.
S01:E25 - Conquest of New Providence
While at sea, Tempest discovers that New Providence has been invaded by a Spanish force. Tempest heads back to port and begins putting together a plan to return the island to English control. The Spanish leader, Esteban, has taken systematic control of the colony, declaring it a new satellite of Spain's and forcing the townspeople to do as he commands on a whim, and makes clear his intentions to capture Tempest, who he presumes to be his only threat. Upon his return to New Providence, Tempest leads a rally from his best men to usurp Esteban out of his tyrannical rule.
S01:E26 - Hurricane
As New Providence is recovering from a hurricane, word comes through that a Spanish treasure ship has sunk nearby. Tempest decides to try and recover the gold as a way to finance the rebuilding of the town. His research leads him to a Spanish colonist who knows of a secret cover, famous for its entrapping vessels in inclimate weather. Upon searching the ship for clues, he is stressed to discover that he has company on either side, with a Spanish ship following right on his tail and local natives who are skeptical of the strangers' presence watching onshore nearby.
S01:E27 - Cutlass Wedding
Taffy backs out of marriage with one of the colony girls. In retaliation the girls threaten to leave. Tempest tries to broker a new proposal before the women follow through with their threat. The women ultimately commandeer a boat and stow away as fugitives en route to Jamaica. They stumble upon a French captain whose crew is stationed on a remote and largely unoccupied island, who seems eager to assist them in their escape. Things become more complex when the captain reveals himself to be a slave trader who has been banned from Jamaica, and reveals his intentions to sell the women.
S01:E28 - The Aztec Treasure
Tempest comes across a boisterous cutthroat who claims to know the location of the great treasure in history, prompting them to collaborate on a voyage to the alleged stash. Though Tempest and his three crewman are skeptical of the shady cutthroat, the prospect of his claim of treasure being valid is enough to set them off on a journey deep into Aztec lands. The treasure site is suspiciously guarded by Aztec priests' spears as opposed to soldiers', invoking paranoia and superstition in the treasure thieves.
S01:E29 - Prize of Andalusia
After the crew rescues a stranded English sailor from being strapped to a bundle of cargo floating in the ocean, they swear to avenge the wrongdoing against him and rescue his stolen ship. This leads them to a Spanish island, where they must blend in and avoid spies to track down and recapture the commandeered ship and her crew. Upon further investigation, Tempest is lead to a recently widowed older woman who appears to know more than she lets on, with her grief and motivations coming under tight scrutiny and speculation.
S01:E30 - Dan Tempest Holds an Auction
Tempest takes a solo trip to Charleston, where he hopes to sell an abundance of cargo for a fair fee to international traders based at the port. He quickly suspects that the trading company is participating in unfair practices, leading him to investigate the shady underground world of international trading that has monopolized and jeopardized the free market. His research brings him to a brother/sister tobacco farming duo, who are subsequently attempting to circumvent the rigged trading laws, who he teams up with to usurp the political machine in place.
S01:E31 - The Spy Aboard
Captain Tempest is robbed by the ruthless pirate Peg Leg. He comes to the realization there must be a spy aboard his own ship the Sultana. He decides the only way to get his fortune back is get a spy onto the pirate ship. With two difficult objectives facing him, and one of his most trusted men revealed to be secretly selling intelligence to his adversaries, he struggles to verify who he can trust.
S01:E32 - Flip and Jenny
Tempest finds two children stowed away on his ship. They tell a story of their father, an indentured slave, being thrown in jail for his refusal to work until the local land owner agrees to educate the children. Tempest sets out to help the man, going so far as to break into his captivity to get to the bottom of the alleged injustice. Some negotiating and wrangling on Tempest's part strong-arm the Lord into compromising, though the specifics require some shady maneuvering, with Tempest and his men being forced to wait in jail while the whole matter is sorted out.
S01:E33 - Indian Fighters
Tempest returns famous Indian fighter Understandable Perkins to his home town. Instead of an expected heroes welcome Perkins is charged with treason and thrown in jail. Tempest sets out to right the wrong. Whilst attempting to resolve their unlawful and unexplained imprisonment, they come to the realization that there is a mass problem of unlawful imprisonment without due process in the area, and that a local frontiersman has been arrested for undermining the government's indefensible laws. Together, they break those inexplicably in prison out of jail and pledge to start a fire, then refuse assistance in its extinguishing, meant to provoke a forced recognition of the governor's citizen's rights.
S01:E34 - Mistress Higgins' Treasure
Captain Tempest is smuggling a load of farm tools to a group of desperate farmers when he encounters a strange woman at sea. She tells a tale of buried pirate treasure she has discovered in a cave on an island. The pirates are skeptical of her story of being a school mistress, yet follow her and her claim of treasure anyway due to her surprisingly dense knowledge of piracy. She proves to know a fair amount about Tempest, and her story regarding a treasure for discovery seems to specific to be fabricated.
S01:E35 - To the Rescue
Tempest arrives at Savannah in the promise of a valuable cargo. Local politics make moving a load of tobacco very risky, with so much at stake Dan rolls the dice and takes the load.
S01:E36 - The Decoy
Tempest is sailing for Charleston with a valuable load of furs. While trying to avoid a pirate "The Turk" he finds a strange woman alone in a dingy at sea, who tells an even stranger story.
S01:E37 - The Instrument of War
Tempest arrives at Prisoner's Island to pick up a valuable cargo. He becomes concerned when he discovers the cargo is a single Scottish Highland Chief. The Chief turns out to be on the run from the law, with an entire conspiracy floating behind him and his alleged wrongdoings. Tempest devises a plan to pose as an accomplice in order to break into prison and sneak the chief out of jail, ultimately securing his safe escape.
S01:E38 - Pirate Honour
Tempest tries to save a young boy who's knowledge of buried gold makes him a valuable target of the famed pirate Black Bart. He discovers the boy's late father was an old ally of Tempest's, which compels him to reach out and return the favor via his son's proxy. When Black Bart takes Tempest and his closest seamen hostage amidst their quest for the treasure, the young boy is forced to take charge and use his knowledge and memories of his father to guide the remaining crew, ultimately paving the way for the crew's release and the treasure's discovery.
S01:E39 - Printer's Devil
Captain Tempest becomes involved when he sees a printer shut down for spreading stories of corruption amid the government. Tempest thinks there is some truth behind the story and decides to make a stand. He concocts a plan to steal a horse and anonymously distribute papers wrapped around innocuous loaves of bread to dispense revealing information exposing the mass corruption plaguing Cape May.
