Rescue Special Operations
Season 1 Episode 9 - Rave
An illegal rave party on some rocks by the sea turns to disaster when a rogue wave
washes the ravers off the rocks. In a dramatic rescue operation, Chase connects with
Brandon, a guy who gets his arm wedged under a rock. Chase, feeling vulnerable over
the state of his life and lack of friends, pursues friendship with Brandon as eagerly as
Brandon seeks Chase’s company. Meanwhile, Lara feels responsible for the death of
one of the raver’s boyfriends when she fails to act on the woman’s cries for help. When
it’s later suspected that the dead man, Jack, is a victim of homicide, Chase comes to
suspect Brandon might be involved. Confronting Brandon almost ends in disaster when
Brandon attempts suicide and requires rescuing by Chase once again. And, Lara
suspects that Hamish is having an affair, but soon discovers that his nights out are
linked to his secret DUI charge. When Lara learns that Dean knew about Hamish’s lies
to her, she takes her anger out on Dean, rather than Hamish, threatening their
friendship.

Season 1
S01:E01 - Rescue in the Blue Mountains
Two teenagers have gone missing overnight from a school camp in the Blue Mountains.
Did they run away? Or is there something more sinister afoot? Rescue Special Ops are
called in to do a sweep of the rugged terrain and they discover one of the teenagers,
shaken and cold. But he can’t, or won’t, say what happened to his girlfriend. And that’s
not the only secret the Mountains are hiding.
As they search for the missing girl, Dean and Lara stumble upon a missing plane, and
even more astonishing, a passenger who survived the crash. As Dean bonds with the
dying woman, some clever sleuthing by Heidi reveals a bizarre student love triangle.
S01:E02 - Thrillseeker
Dean rescues an attractive young woman, Jasmine, from the side of a city highrise, and
against his better judgement becomes romantically involved with her. Meanwhile, Lara
rescues a man from a stormwater drain, but not before he nearly drowns them both in
his search for the ultimate thrill. Intrigued by the experience, Lara can’t help but see
something of herself in his thrillseeking recklessness. As the real reason for Jasmine’s
being in peril becomes clear, Dean finds himself compromised by her shady dealings.
And as Lara confronts the demons within, both she and Dean realise why it’s never a
good idea to get involved with someone you’ve rescued.
S01:E03 - Fire in the Cross
An explosion at a nightclub sees Rescue Special Ops working side by side with the
Firies. In the ensuing chaos, Dean’s arch rival, Jake, takes a shine to Lara, Jordan
bumps into a friend from his misspent youth, and the nightclub’s owner and drug kingpin
is stabbed to death. When it’s revealed that Jordan’s old mate is a suspect in the
murder, Jordan stays silent. He determines to get to the bottom of his friend’s
involvement, and along the way falls into bed with his mate’s girlfriend. Meanwhile,
Dean and Jake make a bet about Lara, who is less than amused. Nor is Jordan’s friend
Willo when he discovers Jordan’s secret tryst with his girlfriend. And while Jordan is left
feeling confused about who his friends are, the station is highly amused to see Jake step
up and honour losing his bet – if not his dignity - in fine style.
S01:E04 - Deathbed Confessional
A rock-thrower causes a horrific three vehicle MVA. As Dean struggles to rescue a local
bookie from his car, Chase attends to a badly injured woman. Just before she dies she
asks him to fulfil her dying wish – “tell my daughter her father isn’t her father.” Chase
wrestles with the dilemma and against his better judgement, finds the daughter and is
soon dragged into her anguished teenage world. Meanwhile Dean finds himself under
threat from the bookie’s brother, who claims a great deal of money went missing from his
car during the rescue. And Lara has problems of her own when she shows an eager
young potential recruit through the station. Suspicious that he may be the infamous
rock-thrower who is causing so much carnage on the roads, the team confront him –
only to discover they’ve not only got the wrong man, they’ve got a bitter enemy.
S01:E05 - Ferry Disaster
The skipper of a small cruiser swigs from his flask, before faltering, apparently drunk,
and crashing into a boatload of young revellers. Rescue Special Ops arrive and begin
plucking people from the water. While Heidi tends to a young woman with a bump on her
head who seems to be fine, Dean goes looking for the skipper who has disappeared,
presumed dead. When Heidi’s patient goes into cardiac arrest and dies a Jane Doe –
Person Unknown, she’s driven to discover her identity. And Dean is driven to find the
missing skipper, whom he is convinced is still alive. He enlists the help of his father. As
Shane and Dean bicker over ancient Gallagher history, they discover the missing
skipper who confesses he took advantage of the boating disaster to escape a love
triangle of his own making. Shane and Dean manage to put some family skeletons to
rest, while Heidi finally discovers the ID of her Jane Doe, and can put her to rest as well.
S01:E06 - Building Site Conspiracy
A boom lift operator suffers a heart attack, causing his construction’s scaffolding to
collapse. As our guys arrive and start pulling people from the rubble, Jordan finds
himself under the spell of the only woman on site. She shocks him by revealing that the
accident was a deliberate attempt to get her sacked, then shocks (and delights) him
again when she takes him to her bed – with her sexy flatmate. Meanwhile, Michelle’s
decision to evacuate surrounding buildings has her at loggerheads with Rescue Head
Honcho, Ed Frazer. The pressure mounts on Michelle, and only gets worse when
Jordan, in a bid to stop the campaign against his new lover, takes a swing at her
construction boss, and an assault charge follows. Ed Frazer confronts Michelle and
demands her resignation, but she’s not going anywhere just yet.
S01:E07 - Luna Park
When the crew is called to rescue passengers trapped on a ferris wheel at the fun park,
they discover a badly battered woman at its base. Could she be the latest victim of the
taser rapist? Heidi’s overwhelming empathy sees her bond with the victim’s husband.
Meanwhile Dean runs into an old flame, Nicole, ‘the one that got away,’ and sparks fly.
As Heidi’s sense of injustice warps into overdrive, the taser rapist is captured and injured
and she has to struggle to put her personal feelings aside to treat him. While Dean starts
to wonder if Nicole is the one woman he’d settle down with, Heidi starts to wonder if
she’s really cut out for the job. When the woman from the Fun Park dies, Heidi goes to
comfort her husband and to her horror, slowly pieces together the true identity of the
taser rapist.
S01:E08 - ATM Bandits
Dean’s doing it tough. When the team is called to rescue the driver of a car teetering on
a cliff edge, he discovers they’ve rescued a couple of carjackers. Meanwhile, he and
Chase are diverted to another rescue - a serious trench collapse – and at the bottom, his
life in serious danger, is their father Shane. Realising his father is a fallible, ageing man
Dean questions his own future and manages to seriously mess up his relationship with
Nicole. Fuelled by anger at his father’s shortcomings, he throws himself into another
dangerous rescue – this time a gang responsible for blowing up an ATM – only to
discover he’s seen a couple of these faces before.
S01:E09 - Rave
An illegal rave party on some rocks by the sea turns to disaster when a rogue wave

the state of his life and lack of friends, pursues friendship with Brandon as eagerly as
Brandon seeks Chase’s company.
When Lara learns that Dean knew about Hamish’s lies
to her, she takes her anger out on Dean, rather than Hamish, threatening their
friendship.
S01:E10 - Eco-Warriors
An explosion in a shopping centre sees Rescue Special Ops reunite with the Firies to
get panicked shoppers to safety. But there’s a little boy missing, and locating him
becomes a top priority for Vince. When an environmental activist group (ECO) takes
responsibility for the explosion, one of the frightened shoppers overhears the word
‘bomb’, and causes major panic. Things are further complicated when a steroid abusing,
gym junkie has a heart attack in the car park and Heidi and Chase have to save him.
Meanwhile newly single Lara rescues a man stuck on a balcony and is given a small
boost by his flirting. But their day isn’t over yet. Another ECO activist glues himself to a
pole in order to spread the message. And when Lara and Jordan go to rescue some
passengers stuck in a lift, they discover an attractive young activist Caitlin, who
succeeds in getting her message across to just one person – Jordan. And Lara realizes
that it might not be so great being single after all.
S01:E11 - Bride in the Balloon
What should be a routine job – find a bride in a hot air balloon and bring her down safely
– turns into a series of disasters as the Rescue Special Ops team realise the balloon
isn’t the only thing that’s been sabotaged: Michelle and Dean’s liaison in her office has
been filmed, Chase is in trouble when something goes wrong with his oxygen tank while
he’s underwater, and Dean and Lara only just avert a serious crash when their vehicle is
tampered with. Someone is targeting Rescue and they mean business. But who would
want to kill the very people who save lives?
In the meantime, what should have been the happiest day of a young couple’s life ...
won’t be.
S01:E12 - First day as Team Leader
The team is coming to terms with the need for increased security around the
stationhouse when the call comes in. A distressed wife claims her husband is missing in
the national park. Dean and Chase locate the missing bushwalker who is not only
unharmed, but surprised. And he’s not keen on returning. When a young man turns up,
they think they understand why, and head back in. But the man’s wife, enraged, takes
off into the bush and ends up marooned in a creek. Lara and Dean are affecting a water
rescue when the husband reveals that the young man is not his lover, but his son.
Unfortunately, it’s too late for Lara. The creek’s water levels are rising dangerously and
her leg’s trapped. And there’s only one way Dean can save her. Meanwhile, Vince and
Michelle finally extricate themselves from their whizzbang new security, only to discover
they’ve had an intruder. And it seems that Naomi, the jealous wife, was right all along --
her husband was having an affair.
S01:E13 - Lara's life is in danger
An unaccompanied pram jumps the kerb and ploughs straight under the wheels of an oncoming diesel truck, which clips a garden supplies truck and a hybrid car. It’s a recipe for a major explosion. As the crew arrive the stakes ramp up when they discover the hybrid car is alive. And no one can find the pram with the baby. Meanwhile, back at the station, Lara, on crutches and all alone, thinks she hears someone. She goes to investigate …. Back at the accident site things are getting worse. There’s a plastics factory experiencing problems. And their gas pipes could explode at any moment. It’s action stations as the crew are forced to juggle potential catastrophes. And matters are further complicated by a dodgy Ambo who seems to be secretly filming the disaster. When the ambo turns up at the station, Lara recognizes Rick, the weirdo from episode 5. And he’s not happy. As he lunges for her, Dean puts two and two together, realizes that Rick is the dodgy ambo and the saboteur. He races back to the station, but will he get there in time to save Lara?
