Fifty potential contestants arrive at Docklands and cook their best Audition Dish for the Judges in the hope of earning an apron into the Top 24.Contestants have one hour to cook this dish.

18 contestants go into the second day of the top 50. The episode is in two parts; Part 1 – Invention Test – Core Skills: 7 aprons are awarded to 7 of the successful contestants.

It’s day one in the MasterChef kitchen and our contestants and the judges announce that this challenge will be a Mystery Box challenge and that it will involve some past champions.

Round 1 – Chinese Fried Rice cooking challenge, round 2 – “Name that Ingredient’ challenge and Round 3 – Cooking challenge with the bottom three from the round two challenge.

Contestants have 60 minutes to cook a dish using at least one ingredient. The judges tell contestants that this is the time to take risks! They are looking for skill, improvisation and flavour.

The losing blue team from the offsite challenge had to compete against each other in a 3 round elimination. The task for each round was the same - cook one great snapper dish.

On the Mystery Box of the week, they find 8 fairly difficult ingredients inside – octopus, umeboshi plums, chocolate, pear, parsley, fresh bay leaves, verjuice and caper berries.

3 of the most popular contestants were up for elimination in this pressure test because they cooked raw quid in the Spanish Invention Test.

Tracy, Laura and Amy were the top 3 in the Invention Test so they got to compete for immunity. The episode played out in two rounds.

Teams have to cook a three-course meal for 30 guests, which exactly replicated three courses from a 2-hatted restaurant, either Ezard or Cutler and Co.

The losing team from the last challenge all faced a 3 round elimination. In the first round, the 10 contestants had to cook a dish in 30 minutes using only 10 ingredients.

George came walking through the MasterChef door with an army of ninjas carrying Mystery Boxes and they found out the mystery box ingredients for this week had come from The Press Club.

Christy Tania from Om Nom came in and presented her Mango Alfonso dessert which had 10 different elements on it. The contestants had 3 hours to replicate the dish with Christy's recipe.

Tash and Sarah had to cook off against each other in a mini-challenge to decide who would compete against Benjamin Cooper. The mini challenge was all about chillies.

The losing team had to face off in a Blind Taste Test. Their task was to taste a mystery dish in 3 minutes and then write down as many ingredients as they could in 2 minutes from that dish.
