Francis lived with his father and mother who loved him very much. Francis’s father was one of the richest man in Assisi, and he made sure that Francis got everything he needed.

Saint Thomas was born in Galilee, a small town in Israel. When he first heard the story of the Resurrection of Jesus, he questioned it, and this is how he earned the name “Doubting Thomas”. St. Bartholomew or Nathaniel as he is named in the Gospel of John, was a disciple of Jesus. As the incident about him in the Bible suggests, he had been seeking the Messiah for a long time. Perhaps right from the time he learnt the scriptures as a young boy, he had been seeking the Messiah. Kindly note that the depiction of his childhood is purely a work of fiction.
S01:E11 - Saint Mathew the Evangelist
Saint Mathew worked as a tax collector before he met Jesus. During Jesus’ time, taxes were collected by people called Publicans. They did this job for the Roman rulers. Matthew was one among them and all the Israelites hated these Publicans. But when he met Jesus, he turned a new leaf at the call of his master. He abandoned all the money at the tax booth and started following Jesus!
S01:E12 - Saint Jude Thaddaeus
Saint Jude Thaddaeus is considered as the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes. He is often shown in paintings with a flame around his head which represents his presence during Pentecost, when he received the Holy Spirit. After the death & resurrection of Jesus, St. Jude traveled throughout Mesopotamia, Libya, and Persia preaching and building up the foundations of the early Church.
S01:E13 - Saint Joseph
Saint Joseph was the father of Jesus, and he is mentioned at many occasions in the Bible. Joseph is considered as the patron saint of workers. Joseph got married to Mary, and she gave birth to Jesus. There are many interesting stories about how he got married to Mary, who was much younger than him. Watch and learn those stories here in this wonderful episode!
S01:E14 - Saint Mary
Perhaps the most venerated and worshipped Saint among the Christians would be Saint Mary, the mother of Lord Jesus. When she was young, she miraculously conceived and gave birth to Jesus. She looked after him, supported him, and even watched him die on the cross. After Jesus’ ascension into heaven, it was Mary who inspired hope among the apostles.

Saint Elizabeth is considered as the patron saint of expecting mothers. In Hebrew the meaning of Elizabeth is ‘Worshipper of God’. Her husband’s name was Zechariah, and he was served as the priest in a temple of God. She was the mother of John the Baptist.
S01:E16 - Saint John the Baptist
John the Baptist was born through the intercession of God to Zechariah and Elizabeth. According to the scriptures, the angel Gabriel visited Zechariah and told him that his wife will deliver a child. But did Zechariah believe the angel? How could he, as his wife was now very old. But you know nothing is impossible with God.

The commander paid no heed to his warnings, and continued the travel.

Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He is credited of converting the people of Ireland to Christianity. The story of Patrick begins when he was kidnapped just as a boy. He had to live in a foreign land, and it was only through a divine intervention that he managed to escape from his kidnappers. He soon turned to lord, and went to Ireland to preach Christianity.
S01:E23 - Saint George
George was born in a noble Christian family in Lydda, Syria in AD 280. At the age of 14, George lost his father and then after few years he lost his mother as well. One day, he went to meet the emperor of Nicomedia and sought permission to join his army. The emperor agreed and George joined as a soldier in his army. George was a fierce warrior, and as years passed he climbed the ranks in the army.
S01:E24 - Saint Sebastian
Saint Sebastian is considered as the patron saint against epidemic diseases, and also for the athletes. A long long time ago the ruling emperor of Rome - Diocletian hated the Christians, and he ordered the Christians to leave Rome if they don’t start worshipping Roman idols. The hatred against the Christians was spreading like an epidemic.
S01:E25 - Saint Anthony of Padua
Saint Antony was born on 15th August 1195 at Lisbon in a wealthy family. His childhood name was Fernado Martins, and he studied at a local catholic school. When he was 15, he joined a monastery of St. Vincent. He was inspired by the Franciscan monks, and like them he started preaching Gospel in different lands. When he gave a speech, it was as if the Holy Spirit was speaking through him.
