Anthony's college graduation is approaching and he is nervous over having been chosen as a commencement speaker and about a visit from his grandmother. When he admits to not having started his speech, even though the ceremony is only a few days off, Julia offers to help him write it, hoping she can get him to calm down. Meanwhile, everyone except Suzanne, makes a donation to the Black History Reading Room Anthony is starting for the school library. For his graduation gift, Bernice gives Anthony a Jeopardy game and then persuades Suzanne and Charlene to take on Julia and Mary Jo in a spirited match. After losing badly, Suzanne vows to even the score and returns to Sugarbaker's in the middle of the night to retrieve the game, hoping to memorize all the questions and answers. However, when Anthony arrives to pick up his new suit and Suzanne mistakes him for a burglar, she shoots him, putting Anthony in the hospital. Distraught over having shot Anthony, Suzanne wants to do something to make it up to him. Having recovered from his wound, Anthony is no longer afraid of making his speech. At the ceremony, he thanks his grandmother for always supporting him. Then, as he is thanking the women for all they have done for him since his release from prison, Anthony proudly displays a check from Suzanne to build the Suzanne Sugarbaker Black History Student reading Room at the campus library.
