Today in the Repair Shop, Jay Blades and the team bring three treasured family heirlooms, and the memories they hold, back to life. Master Saddler Suzie Fletcher rescues a pair of tired and torn boxing gloves that once belonged to the owner Andy's uncle, who died tragically as a young man. Andy is keen to have the precious keepsakes restored for his father as a surprise, who was very close to deceased brother. Suzie lovingly nourishes, patches and stitches them, bringing them back from the brink.Natural History Conservator Simon Moore is faced with a huge challenge, when he takes receipt of an unusual cigarette box, crafted from an ostrich egg shell. It was a gift given to owner Trevor's grandfather in the Second World War, while stationed in the Far East. Trevor was fascinated by this wonderful creation as a boy and inherited it twenty years ago. Sadly it came a cropper recently, when it was accidently nudged off a shelf and the shell casing shattered into over thirty pieces. Now Simon is tasked with painstakingly rebuilding this fragile jigsaw.And metalworker Dom is delighted to work on a 1950's toy bike gifted to the owner's brother by none other than Laurel and Hardy, during a performance in their home town. The pedals have seized up and rust has taken hold of the body work. But slowly and surely Dom resurrects this cherished toy for the next generation of Povey children to enjoy.
