Confident of his abilities, Dagwood pre-spends the bonus money on a sparkling new diamond ring, for his and Blondies upcoming anniversary. The fun begins in the Bumstead household when Blondie hears about the bonus and spends the money a second time. If only the job is completed on time wishful thinking considering the Bumsteads typical bumbling mishaps.
