The contestants are putting the final finishing touches to their bathrooms. Dea and Darren have had a rough week with Darren being sick. Ayden and Jess’s bathroom is a little unfinished and Jess isn’t happy with their finished product. Its a mad scramble for Jess and Ayden but the other three teams are sitting pretty, taking their time to style their rooms, and even go out for breakfast. Darren develops pneumonia and goes to hospital so Dea heads to HQ alone. John McGrath, Shaynna and Neale have judged this week’s bathrooms. Josh and Charlotte are first for judging. The judges like the simplicity but also think the bathroom is sophisticated. The clean and simple items help show off the more beautiful items such as the tap. John likes the stucco but worries that the grey may date over time. Neale likes the round mirror but John doesn’t. John does think its going to appeal to young professional couples. Tim and Anastasia’s bathroom impresses the judges. John and Neale think T and A have responded well to the negative comments from last week. They’ve gone in a new direction and Shaynna is impressed with their storage. Neale likes the black fittings and John thinks their style will appeal to the South Yarra buyer. The judges were lost for words in Ayden and Jess’s bathroom. They all feel that the hexagonal tiles have been over used. Neale says the impact has been lost and he doesn’t like the sink. Shaynna doesn’t like the colour of the timber, and Shaynna thinks some of the lighting isn’t needed. John likes the timber deck in the shower floor and Shaynna likes the niche in the shower. They also work out that the shutter above the shower can’t open, which means they can’t open the bathroom in the window. Dea and Darren are next and the judges love the glamourous feeling in the bathroom. The tiles are bold and Neale and Shaynna love them. John loves the different zones in the room but Shaynna doesn’t love the double shower, and thinks that the screens are too short and that the floors will get wet. Neale feels that Dea and Darren are great bathroom designers. Charlotte and Josh - Shaynna 7.5, John 8.5, Neale 8.5 = 24.5. Tim and Anastasia - Shaynna 8.5, John 8.5, Neale 9 = 26. Ayden and Jess - Shaynna 6.5, John 6.5, Neale 7.5 = 21. Dea and Daz - Shaynna 9, John 9, Neale 9.5 = 26.5 (-1 from the challenge). Next week, the teams will need to deliver their second bedrooms. And the teams head back to judge and vote on each other’s rooms. Scotty wants the scores to be fair and genuine.
