Changemakers: Asia is a three-part series that takes a look at some of the weird and wonderful projects emerging from Asia to combat climate change laced with a little humour. Yes, it is possible to make jokes about this subject and still take it seriously. With a bit of luck, itll remind us that perhaps things arent quite as black as theyre painted and that there are plenty of people willing to tackle the problems of global warming head on.

This episode looks at a biofuel crop that grows on Indian wasteland rich in oil; a green slime fuel growing in some flasks in Japan; and a device for converting our footsteps and even noise into energy. Meanwhile a Singaporean company is installing systems in which the hot exhausts from air-con systems are used to heat water, and a new company is developing hydrogen-powered bikes. Theres also a high-tech sea-bed generator and the secrets behind getting electricity from cow-poo.
