Saison 8 Épisode 14 - Musical Bears, Pablo's Pepper Mill, Pigeon Glass
Télé-réalité · Documentaire · Histoire
The team is tasked with putting the spice back into three cherished heirlooms. First into the barn is Pablo with a cherished item linked to his Spanish heritage. The ground-down painted peppermill belonged to his charismatic restaurateur father, Julio. The peppermill was Julio's secret ingredient for charming his customers and adding the finishing touches to their meals, always accompanied by a theatrical flourish. Pablo would love to be able to use the peppermill himself, while telling his children all about their magnetic grandad. Dominic Chinea is enlisted to fix the clogged-up mechanism, while Lucia Scalisi brushes up the peppermill's decorative paintwork.Meanwhile, toy restorers Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch are enchanted by the two identical teddy bears that Nicola, from London, brings to the barn. The teddies, each housing an internal musical mechanism, belonged to Nicola and her identical twin sister Frances. Gifted to them on their first Christmas, the teddies brought comfort at bedtime with the lullaby they played. They have been treasured throughout the twins' lives, despite now looking rather tired with age and their music boxes packing up years ago. The twins were always very close so when Frances sadly passed away a couple of years ago, it became Nicola's wish to have the bears repaired as a tribute to her dear sister and so that her niece can become the custodian of her late mum's precious bear. It's down to Steve Kember to get the bears back in tune once again. The final restoration for the day is a task for stained glass expert Matt Nichols. Amberlie from Portsmouth has brought her grandad's beautiful but broken Victorian stained glass window panel. For years the pane adorned the wooden shed in his garden, where his beloved racing pigeons were housed. Amberlie and her sister spent many happy times helping their grandad in the pigeon loft, with its fancy window. When her grandad died and the pigeons were rehomed, the panel was accidentally damaged and now needs some serious attention.
