The Repair Shop
Saison 7 Épisode 5 - Little Shoe, Classic Vacuum Cleaner, Doll's Tea Set
Télé-réalité · Documentaire · Histoire
Jay Blades and the Repair Shop team bring three treasured family heirlooms, and the memories they hold, back to life.Jonathon Sparkes is the first visitor to the barn, to see leather restoration expert Suzie Fletcher. He has brought with him an unlikely family talisman – one that went to war with both his grandfather and father. This small child's shoe was found on a French roadside during the First World War by Jonathon's grandfather. He intended to reunite it with its owner but never found them. Instead, it accompanied him through the rest of his posting and was then passed on to Jonathon's father when he fought in the Second World War. The family feel the now frail and tattered shoe kept the men safe. Jonathon has been the custodian of the shoe for decades but every year it disintegrates a bit further, and he needs help. Preserving the item is a huge undertaking for Suzie and she calls on Will to assist getting this little shoe back on its feet.Master of all things metal Dominic Chinea, and electronics expert Mark Stuckey are itching to get going on a vintage vacuum cleaner. Kauser Mukhtar and her siblings have a fondness for this rusty relic that they played with as children – riding around on top of it as it glided over the carpet. It's a memento of a happy childhood and after discovering it hiding in a garage, Kauser would just love to hear it's familiar hum and see it in action once again. Dom tackles the cosmetic side, contending with rust and dust, while Mark focuses on resuscitating the decrepit electric motor. And Queen of ceramics, Kirsten Ramsay, is only too happy to come to the rescue of a tiny dolls tea set from the turn of the century. Sue Bolger fell in love with it from the moment she first spotted it as little girl. Her granny would let her play with it and she'd spend hours hosting parties for her dolls. Sadly the set was smashed during a burglary and although attempts were made to glue it back together again, the earthenware blue and white set is still full of holes and cracks. If Kirsten can repair it, Sue would like to pass it down to her granddaughter for future dolls tea parties.
