The Bachelor

In the premiere episode of the second season, viewers go behind the scenes to see how adventurous candidates are selected for the series. Additionally, former participants offer their opinions and advice, and ultimately the new Bachelor is introduced.

The Bachelor, Aaron Buerge, is introduced to 25 lovely women, among them a flight attendant, a teacher, an attorney, a school psychologist, a public relations representative and a recording artist. Aaron begins his dating process at a sprawling Malibu, California, seaside home where he hosts a cocktail party and meets the dynamic ladies who share his desire to find true love. He spends the evening getting to know them, but at the end of the night must give 15 single red roses to those whom he would like to know better. If one of these women, however, should decide that she is not interested in the Bachelor, she can decline his rose and refuse to continue on this romantic journey.

Host Chris Harrison introduces the 15 remaining women to their "Ladies Villa," the fabulous Malibu mansion where they will live as they prepare for their upcoming group dates to Napa Valley, horse races at Del Mar and a trip on a houseboat at Lake Powell. As the episode concludes, Aaron must present roses to the 10 women whom he'd like to continue dating. However, if any of these ladies should decide that she is no longer interested in Aaron, she can decline his rose and refuse to remain on this exciting romantic journey with the Bachelor.

Aaron's close friends, Ryan and Ryan's sister Melissa, move into the guest house at the Ladies' Villa to learn more about the 10 women that Aaron is dating. Their observations and interactions will help the Bachelor determine the women with whom he is most compatible. Some will be lucky enough to have one-on-one dates with Aaron, but others will not--which naturally sparks some jealousy in the Ladies' Villa. By the conclusion of this episode, Aaron must present roses to only six women he would like to continue dating. If any of these ladies, however, should decide that she is no longer interested in Aaron, she can decline his rose and refuse to continue on this exciting romantic journey.

The Bachelor's next dates are determined by a psychologist's personality evaluation of him and the ladies. The three ladies who are found to be the most compatible with Aaron will get individual dates with him, including a helicopter ride to Santa Barbara and a fairy-tale evening. The others will go yachting on a group date. Aaron must present roses to four of the six remaining women.

As the four remaining ladies prepare to take Aaron home to meet their families, they must also say goodbye to one another and move out of the Ladies' Villa. Meanwhile, even as relationships are growing stronger, Aaron must present roses to only the three women he would like to continue dating. The four hopefuls are: Helene, a 27-year-old school psychologist from New Jersey; Brooke, 22, a student from Alabama; a 26-year-old registered nurse from Missouri named Angela; and Gwen, 31, an executive recruiter from Pennsylvania.

Relationships are intensifying as Aaron and Brooke take a trip to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, then he and Gwen tour romantic San Francisco, and finally, Aaron and Helene enjoy a cozy date in Aspen, Colorado. Meanwhile, as each woman grows closer to the Bachelor, he can only present roses to the two women he wishes to continue dating.

Once there were 25 beautiful women, and now there can be only one. Aaron must give his final rose to either Brooke, a 22-year-old student from Albertville, Alabama, or to Helene, a 28-year-old school psychologist from Gloucester, New Jersey. How will the Bachelor deliver the heartbreaking news to the one to whom he must bid farewell? What future awaits the woman he has chosen? And how will she respond?
