El Cajon Miracle Girl Sometimes a split second can seem like an eternity, especially when that sliver of time involves your child. Such was the case for George Johnson and his wife Mary Lou. Their daughter, Christina, was a healthy energetic four-year-old. On a summer day in El Cajon, California, that would all change when the Johnson family joined some friends for a graduation party. After asking permission from her father to cross the street (accompanied by an older child), Christina was hit by a car. Her body was thrown into the air then it dropped down onto the car and rolled onto the ground. Those who witnessed the incident say that the little girl was lifeless and had had a large indentation on her forehead. Within minutes of her pulse returning, the indentation had disappeared and her forehead was back to normal. She was released after staying only one night in the hospital, in perfect health, miraculously having sustained no injuries. Miraculous Re-Capture Fidel and a friend were at a local bar when a confrontation ensued in which Fidel was violently stabbed. By the time Fidel was rushed to the hospital, he had already lost 18 units of blood and needed massive transfusions. Two days later, his attacker was caught. Fidel spent weeks in the hospital covering and then months in rehabilitation. Eight months following his arrest, FidelÍs attacker escaped from prison. Miraculously, Fidel would be the one responsible for the fugitiveÍs re-capture. Lost Ring There is a familiar saying, ñblood is thicker than waterî. Thomas now understands this better than anyone. After missing for over 30 years, a precious family heirloom found its way back to Thomas due to one strangerÍs quest to learn the heirloomÍs history. Baby Sister Miracle In 1988, Abe and Mary AyalaÍs 16-year-old daughter, Anissa, was diagnosed with myelogenous leukemia. The grave news set the Ayalas on a desperate two-year search for a bone marrow donor. Neither they nor their 18-year-old son, Airon, were a match. With no unrelated matching donors available and their daughterÍs life hanging in the balance, Abe and Mary made the controversial decision to try to create a donor by conceiving another child. Facing the odds of a 1-in-4 chance that this baby would be a compatible donor, as well as a 50-50 chance that AbeÍs vasectomy could be reversed, the Ayalas determination would miraculously pay off. In 1990, Marissa-Eve was born, and her marrow was a match to AnissaÍs. Fourteen months later, in June of 1991, the babyÍs marrow was transferred to her big sister. Today, almost eight years after the procedure, Anissa is married and is cancer-free. And her little sister Marissa, who is responsible for saving her life, now looks upon Anissa as a second mother.
