The Skyros Horses of Greece can be found not only in the country's hills and plains, but also inits famous monuments such as the Parthenon. For thousands of years this incredible horse has stood alongside great heroes in battle, and it still survives as a national Greek treasure.
S01:E02 - Tarpan
Repainting an Ancient Picture - This is the story of mankind's attempt to bring back a horse from the dead. The Tarpan roamed in wild herds across Europe for millennia, yet the breed became extinct in the 19th century. Today the careful work of international teams is bringing a small herd of genetically bred, modern Tarpan to the remote mountains of eastern Europe. Here the horse faces a whole new challenge, struggling to become wild again.
