Alma hosts a jovial Purim television special despite the massacre in Hebron that day. She meets her new roommate, Ben, and they form a deep bond. They travel to Sinai together where they come face-to-face with death. Brenner convinces Ben to attend a lesson by Rabbi Daniel, A Breslau adherent.
S01:É02 - S01:E02 - I'm Losing Him
On the eve of Yom Kippur, Alma discovers that Ben intends to fast. Ben tries to convince her to join him for prayers. Alma is looking for Ben, going from synagogue to synagogue. At the end of the fast, Ben returns with a group of repentants. Alma understands that their lives will no longer be the same.
S01:É03 - S01:E03 - Let's Run Away
Alma and Ben are in Amsterdam, trying to recapture the way they used to be. Ben admits that he wants to repent. Alma tries to run away and they end up in an island on the North Sea, where they meet a local Jew and light Hanukkah candles. In Tel Aviv, Alma goes to Rabbi Daniel's lesson.

Alma's parents are worried and take her to meet Elisha, a former repentant. Alma travels to Rabbi Nachman's grave in Oman in the Ukraine, where she meets Dalit, another repentant. Alma tells Ben they can no longer live together and moves in with Dalit.
S01:É05 - S01:E05 - It's Time to Decide
Ben proposes to Alma. She's scared of the dramatic turn her life is taking. Ben threatens that he won't wait for her. Alma and Ben announce their engagement and face strong objections from their parents. Alma and Ben leave their old lives in Tel Aviv on the way to a new beginning.
