Secret Eaters
S03: E07 - Michael and Katie
Télé-réalité · Mode de vie · Documentaire
Anna Richardson presents the series that uncovers the science and psychology about our eating habits.
Lovebirds 22 year old Katie and 24 year old Michael from Kent are a young couple who can’t understand why they’ve piled on the pounds. Not only have they grown up together but they’ve also grown outwards and in the last 4 years they’ve put on a massive 8 stone between them.
To find out why their weight is spiralling out of control Katie and Michael agree to surveillance cameras being rigged inside their home to monitor what they eat and in order to get the full picture they are also tracked outside the home by a crack PI team. It’s not long before gym bunny Katie fails to exercise restraint after an exercise class and keeps the surveillance team on their toes by becoming a lady who lunches - Often. Husband Michael on the other hand seems to get his thirst on for something a little more fruity.
Will a cold slice of reality reveal the reason behind their ballooning bodies?
Katie and Michael aren’t the only ones the cameras have been watching. We’ve rigged our cameras in a world buffet restaurant for an international tour of the taste buds. Which nations nosh will win the world culinary cup?
And Dr David Lewis, one of the UK’s top food psychologists wants to test the theory that where you eat can be just as important as what you eat. Cameras are locked and loaded in a London restaurant where we’ve created two distinct dining areas. One group of foodies will eat in a fast food style restaurant whilst another group eat in a fine dining room. How will the environment effect how much each group eats?
