S02:É18 - S02:E18 - The Set Up (Pt. 2)

PART II In the bank film, Hutch notices a man's cigarette burning too fast. Rea-lizing that some footage has been removed and wondering also about the non-existent FBI agent who directed their witness into assassin Nash's path, Starsky and Hutch know that their confessed killer was, at least, not responsible for his actions. They know that somebody wanted their state's witness out of the way or they wouldn't have been assigned to protect him in the first place. The next step is easy - it is obvious that Terry Nash has been set up. They soon learn that the culprits are administering post hypnotic suggestion to innocent citizens like Nash - giving them reason to want revenge, instructing them to do the killing and then suggest-ing that they resist police so they, themselves will be killed. No sooner do they make the discovery than another well meaning citizen tries to kill them!
