Weekend Picks: 5 Movies on Tubi That Refuse to Let Spooky Season Clock Out

Halloween may be wrapping up, but the monsters, questionable decisions, and supernatural troublemakers have weekend plans of their own. Keep the spooky fun going free on Tubi.

Halloween has a funny way of making October 31 feel like the grand finale. Weeks of costume planning, candy shopping, and decorating all lead up to one night, only for November to arrive like someone flipping on the lights at the end of a party. Excuse us, who said we were finished?

The pumpkins can stay on the porch a little longer. There's still an entire weekend to enjoy, and retiring the spooky entertainment the moment Halloween ends feels unnecessarily responsible. Besides, the best kind of afterparty doesn't require another costume, an elaborate itinerary, or explaining why there's fake blood on your clothes. Just a comfortable spot on the couch and a movie worth staying up for.

Tubi's Terror on Tubi hub has the supernatural entertainment covered, while these five weekend picks offer a little bit of everything: familiar Halloween troublemakers, unexpected romance, and a sorority mystery that could really use fewer secrets. Better yet, you can stream them free without giving spooky season an official expiration date.

R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2

Redhaven has earned a spot on the list of towns that should probably cancel Halloween. One ancient curse was bad enough. Now the pumpkins are demanding a sequel.

The residents of Redhaven have barely recovered from their previous supernatural troubles when another threat emerges in R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2. Sam and Becka return to face the consequences of a forbidden spellbook that awakens the pumpkin-headed children of the town's past, threatening to turn another Halloween into a nightmare. Their search for answers leads them toward Cassandra, a mysterious witch who might know more about Redhaven's dark history than anyone else.

Redhaven's creepy traditions give the sequel a fun mystery to unravel, especially as Sam and Becka discover that surviving one supernatural disaster doesn't necessarily prepare you for another. The story leans into R.L. Stine's signature mix of childhood fears, small-town secrets, and monsters that seem designed to make every Halloween decoration look suspicious. Cassandra Peterson, better known as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, adds a particularly fitting connection to horror royalty as Cassandra. The town's supernatural history gets an even closer look in our spoiler-free Pumpkinhead 2 spotlight, including Peterson's arrival in Redhaven. Halloween may be ending, but Redhaven's problems are nowhere near finished.

Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween

Halloween has survived ghosts, ghouls, and generations of people making terrible decisions in haunted houses. What it hasn't prepared for is Madea showing up with absolutely no patience for the nonsense.

Madea has been given the unenviable task of supervising a group of teenagers on Halloween night, and they're determined to make her regret accepting the assignment. In Boo! A Madea Halloween, a forbidden party and a series of elaborate pranks leave Tyler Perry's outspoken matriarch dealing with far more than ordinary teenage rebellion. The evening becomes a parade of suspicious encounters, spooky surprises, and people who seriously underestimate how quickly Madea can lose her patience.

Between the ridiculous misunderstandings, haunted-house antics, and a cast of characters who refuse to behave, the movie turns Halloween night into an outrageous comedy where every new scare threatens to become another argument. Perry's larger-than-life character gives the supernatural nonsense a hilarious counterweight, especially when the supposed threats discover that Madea isn't particularly interested in being intimidated. The ghosts may be frightening, but Madea's lecture might be worse.

Cooties

Children can be little monsters. The teachers at Fort Chicken Elementary are about to discover that the expression can become alarmingly literal.

A normal school day becomes a full-blown survival emergency in Cooties, where a mysterious infection transforms elementary school students into vicious creatures. Substitute teacher Clint finds himself trapped alongside a group of educators who must figure out how to escape a building filled with children who are no longer interested in following classroom rules. Unfortunately, the adults aren't exactly a model of cooperation themselves, and their clashing personalities make an already ridiculous situation even harder to manage.

Watching the faculty try to work together gives the movie plenty of opportunities for outrageously dark humor. Elijah Wood makes Clint an entertainingly bewildered guide through the chaos, while Rainn Wilson contributes an aggressively confident gym teacher whose survival instincts might not be quite as impressive as he believes. Their competing approaches to handling the outbreak turn ordinary workplace disagreements into life-or-death arguments, while grotesque practical effects make the school's transformation especially outrageous. Forget detention. Fort Chicken Elementary needs an emergency evacuation plan.

Your Monster

Getting dumped is already an unpleasant experience. Discovering a monster living in your closet afterward? Either the universe is playing a cruel joke or this is the beginning of a very unconventional rebound.

Laura Franco's life has taken a spectacularly unfortunate turn in Your Monster. Recovering from a cancer diagnosis and a breakup with her longtime boyfriend, the struggling actress returns to her childhood home hoping to rebuild her confidence. Instead, she discovers a grumpy creature living in her closet who seems determined to make himself part of her recovery process. Their initially uncomfortable arrangement gradually develops into an unexpected connection, giving Laura a rather unconventional opportunity to rediscover what she wants from life.

Laura's unusual housemate makes an entertaining alternative to the typical charming stranger, while their sarcastic exchanges and growing affection give the movie its playful personality. Melissa Barrera gives Laura an emotional vulnerability that makes her transformation worth rooting for, and Tommy Dewey's gruff monster provides an unexpected source of encouragement. Who knew the monster in your closet could have better relationship potential than your ex?

Buzzkill

Sorority parties are supposed to involve questionable decisions, dramatic friendships, and a morning-after conversation nobody wants to have. Throw in a masked killer, and suddenly the evening needs an entirely different kind of cleanup crew.

Nora's sorority party becomes a deadly mystery in Tubi Original Buzzkill, where a masked killer begins targeting her sisters and the events of the night become crucial to figuring out who's responsible. There's just one rather inconvenient problem: Nora can't remember much of what happened. Her attempts to recover those missing memories lead her toward a dangerous investigation, where every new revelation could help identify the killer or make her situation even worse.

The movie gives the familiar slasher mystery a wickedly ridiculous twist by making alcohol the key to Nora's missing memories. Drinking more might help her piece together the night, but it certainly doesn't make navigating a house full of suspicious sorority sisters any easier. Every new clue raises questions about what Nora actually witnessed, giving viewers their own opportunity to second-guess the suspects alongside her. Siena Agudong gives Nora the kind of messy determination that makes her impossible to dismiss. That wonderfully unreliable approach to solving a slasher mystery also takes center stage in our spoiler-free Buzzkill feature. The costumes may be coming off, but this party has a killer who isn't ready to leave.
