Weekend Picks: 5 Ways to Get Into the Halloween Spirit

Halloween is almost here, and the weekend plans are getting spooky. Witches, monsters, haunted attractions, and masked killers are taking over movie night with five Halloween movies on Tubi.

Halloween is close enough that the decorations are either finished or becoming a problem for next weekend's version of you. The candy bowl is looking suspiciously empty, someone's costume still needs work, and every group chat has at least one person trying to organize a haunted house trip. October 31 may still be a week away, but who decided the festivities had to wait?

This weekend, we're getting into the Halloween spirit one movie at a time. Maybe your ideal spooky season involves a little witchcraft, a monster who's more adorable than terrifying, or a comedy that makes Halloween chaos look like an Olympic sport. Then again, you might prefer the kind of scares that make turning off the lights feel like a personal challenge. Whatever your Halloween personality, Tubi has a movie to match, and the Halloween Treats collection is ready to keep the celebration going.

Five different flavors of Halloween, one weekend, and no reason to save all the fun for October 31.

Bewitched

A little witchcraft never hurt anyone. Well, depending on who's casting the spell.

In Bewitched, Nicole Kidman plays Isabel Bigelow, an actual witch determined to leave magic behind and experience an ordinary life. Unfortunately, her plans take an unexpected turn when struggling actor Jack Wyatt, played by Will Ferrell, casts her in a television remake of the classic 1964 sitcom Bewitched, completely unaware that his new costar can perform real magic.

Witches are practically Halloween royalty, but Isabel isn't particularly interested in the dramatic curses and sinister rituals that usually come with the territory. She's more concerned with figuring out how to live without relying on her powers, which proves surprisingly complicated when magic has always been part of your everyday routine. Between the romantic mishaps, magical misunderstandings, and Kidman's charming take on a witch trying to be ordinary, this one's for anyone who likes their Halloween enchantment with a little romantic comedy.

A Monster in Paris

Being a monster is hard enough without everyone assuming you're the villain.

A Monster in Paris takes that misunderstanding and turns it into something unexpectedly wonderful. Set in early 20th-century Paris, the animated adventure follows the aftermath of a scientific accident that creates a giant flea named Francœur. Despite his frightening appearance, the creature turns out to have a remarkable musical talent and a much gentler personality than the city expects.

Halloween has a long history of celebrating creatures that look a little different, and Francœur deserves a spot among them. The movie trades traditional monster scares for colorful animation, musical performances, and an unlikely friendship that makes its misunderstood creature surprisingly lovable. Not every Halloween monster needs to be hiding under your bed. Francœur would much rather have an audience and a microphone.

Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween

Before the costumes, music, and questionable dance decisions, every Halloween party needs a proper warm-up. Madea has volunteered. Nobody asked her to.

Halloween night is already shaping up to be a headache for Madea in Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween, especially when she's tasked with keeping an eye on Brian's teenage daughter, Tiffany. Unfortunately, a quiet evening of supervision isn't exactly what the teenagers have planned. Pranks, suspicious visitors, and enough spooky surprises to test anyone's patience quickly turn the night into a full-blown comedy of errors.

Madea's reactions alone make this a Halloween comedy worth inviting to the party. Tyler Perry leans into Madea’s ability to turn even the smallest inconvenience into a dramatic confrontation, while Cassi Davis and Patrice Lovely add to the madness as Aunt Bam and Hattie. Ghosts and ghouls might be part of the holiday, but Madea has her own ideas about what deserves a good scare. The supernatural may have finally met its match, and it probably wasn't prepared for the lecture.

The Houses October Built

Every haunted attraction has that one friend who insists nothing is scary because the actors aren't allowed to touch you. Congratulations. We found a movie that might change their mind.

The search for the ultimate Halloween scare sends a group of friends across the country in The Houses October Built, where the most extreme haunted attractions promise experiences far beyond the usual jump scares. The group wants something more intense than the usual costumed performers and predictable tricks, but their search leads them toward places where staged horror and actual danger become more and more difficult to tell apart.

Walking into a haunted attraction means agreeing to be scared, but only because you trust that someone else is in control. The found-footage approach makes the movie feel like you're tagging along on the group's increasingly unsettling road trip, watching that sense of security disappear as the experiences grow more extreme. What begins as a search for the ultimate Halloween thrill becomes a reminder that the scariest part might be not knowing when the performance ends.

You're Next

Halloween wouldn't be complete without at least one movie that makes you regret turning off the lights.

Family reunions can be uncomfortable enough without adding masked killers to the guest list. In You're Next, a gathering at a secluded estate turns into a fight for survival when a group of attackers interrupts an already tense evening. Unfortunately for the intruders, one of their intended victims isn't nearly as helpless as they expected.

Director Adam Wingard turns the home-invasion setup into a vicious game of survival, balancing brutal scares with a dark sense of humor and a protagonist who refuses to follow the usual victim playbook. Sharni Vinson brings a resourceful intensity to Erin, making her the kind of character you'll want on your team when everything goes wrong. We've already explored why Erin makes the masked intruders regret their choice of target in our You're Next spotlight, and her survival instincts are worth another round of applause.
