Football is back, school is in session, Halloween decorations are mysteriously appearing earlier every year, and suddenly every beverage tastes better with cinnamon and pumpkin in it. We're in that wonderfully confusing stretch where it's still technically summer but your watchlist is already wearing a sweater. Apparently, our fall personality clocked in early this year, and we're letting it stay.

The Witches of Eastwick

Life in the small New England town of Eastwick gets considerably more interesting after three friends unknowingly summon the man of their dreams and Jack Nicholson arrives to make that everyone else's problem. The Witches of Eastwick gives Cher, Sarandon, and Pfeiffer plenty of room to play off one another as their characters discover that getting exactly what you wished for can come with some extremely supernatural fine print.
It's witchy without sending us fully into Halloween territory, funny without losing its darker edge, and drenched in the kind of small-town New England atmosphere that makes September feel like permission to start spooky season early. Summer had a good run. The witches are taking it from here.
Sidelined 2: Intercepted
Leaves changing? Debatable. Football season? Very much confirmed.
College puts quarterback Drayton and dancer Dallas in a whole new game in Tubi Original Sidelined 2: Intercepted, with Noah Beck and Siena Agudong returning as the couple who discovered getting together was only the beginning. His freshman football season is kicking off while Dallas pursues dance, leaving their relationship caught somewhere between ambition, distance, and figuring out whether two futures can keep moving in the same direction.

Johnny Depp's Ichabod Crane arrives in the isolated village of Sleepy Hollow armed with reason, investigation, and the deeply unfortunate belief that everything probably has a logical explanation. Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow has other plans. A Headless Horseman, a string of killings, and Christina Ricci's wonderfully gothic Katrina Van Tassel quickly turn Ichabod's investigation into the sort of autumn getaway nobody is leaving a five-star review for.
Burton loads every frame with twisted trees, misty woods, candlelight, and enough gothic atmosphere to make your living room temperature drop five degrees. It's the perfect first step toward spooky season, and once the Horseman has ridden off, Terror on Tubi has plenty more nightmares waiting in the fog.
Love Don't Cost a Thing
Before the leaves fall, we're going back to school. Specifically, we're going back to 2003.
Nick Cannon plays Alvin, a brilliant but unpopular high school student who makes a deal with Christina Milian's Paris: he'll repair her damaged car if she pretends to be his girlfriend. Social status acquired. Popularity unlocked. Surely nothing about reinventing your entire personality to impress your classmates could possibly go wrong.
Love Don't Cost a Thing is peak early-2000s teen-movie comfort, complete with high school hierarchies, questionable fashion decisions, fake dating, and the inevitable realization that becoming “cool” might be significantly less important than figuring out who you actually are. Tubi's Back to School collection keeps the hallway drama going once you're ready for another class. Back-to-school season, but make it Y2K.
Fall
We promised five movies to kick off fall. We never specified which kind.
Best friends Becky and Hunter aren't exactly easing into the season in Fall. Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner take the pair 2,000 feet up an abandoned radio tower, where reaching the top turns out to be considerably easier than figuring out how to get back down.
Director Scott Mann turns height itself into the monster, squeezing an absurd amount of tension out of two people, one tiny platform, and a very long way to the ground. Even viewers who insist they aren't afraid of heights may discover some previously undisclosed information about themselves. Cozy autumn movie night? Maybe not. A movie called Fall in our fall kickoff list? We had no choice.
